Does anyone think it's pretty ballsy for Williams to elect to fight a guy who is basically a way bigger better version of the only person who ever beat him (quintana)? I think Paul will win, but Martinez has a serious shot given his style. PWill better bring that A-Game...
Yeah, but I think it was just a case of Williams having an off nite. Not to take away from Quintana, he was excellent and executed his gameplan well that nite, but if PTP had brought his A game, the results would have been probably been the same as the rematch.
Yeah but my point is that Paul could have an off night against a lot of guys and still win comfortably. With Martinez, he has a very small margin for error. Off night=Career derailment. Takes some balls if you ask me...
True, especially on short notice. But the guy wants to fight, too bad the whole Pavlik scenario developed the way it did. Maybe in the future they can mix it up. I like both fighters and want to see it. PTP could have an off nite, but I think the 1st Quintana fight woke him up to a degree. I don't think he has another let down like that. Not to say he can't or won't be beaten, but it won't be because he let's up.
Thats why you have to give PW his respect!! Unlike Kelly Pavlik who has all of a sudden elected to fight an opponent who is ranked as the 50th MW 2 weeks after pulling out of the PW fight!!
PW earned my respect for accepting to fight Martinez. This fight is a high risk-low reward fight compared to Pavlik fight(wich is a big reward).Sergio Martinez is better compared to Cintron,Angulo,Spinks, actually he is nr. 2 LMW and PW is Number one.
There are similarities between Martinez and Quintana, however IMO Quintana is a better fighter (although smaller). Martinez is definitely faster, but Quintana is a severely underrated counterpuncher.
