The fact you believe everything about Ali but are making excuses for Bonavena whose own trainers and managers threw him under the bus tells me you're pretty biased.

What is not believable about Ali?? I have him on film bashing "f___ots" and calling non muslim black men "n___ers" as well as saying that black women who dated white men were wh___res" theres tons of videos of him being absolutely deplorable to his opponents and sparring partners. Theres tons of stories from those close to him that he was a philanderer, Ferdie Pacheco said Ali was a legendary womanizer when he was single and married, made no difference and his wife divorced him on grounds of abuse which went uncontested. I dont have to "believe" anything its there in the record whereas you read one story on one of the shittiest boxing websites on the net and you think you are an expert. LOL OK. If you want subscribe to this rosey view of Ali as this humanitarian who loved everyone thats fine but its far from the truth. My point is those casting stones should make sure they dont live in glass houses first. Beyond that, its comical to denigrate Bonavena for having an affair with a married when that womans husband testified that he was in bed with two prostitutes when Bonavena was shot and when that same husband flaunted his affairs with prostitutes on a daily basis in Nevada. He was well known for it. Like I said, the "sanctity" of that marriage was a joke. The point was that Bonavena was a boor and an immature manchild whose antics related in this article are being denigrated and compared to a woman beating murderer (Monzon) which is ridiculous while Ali is often given a pass for the same behavior that Bonavena was accused of in this article. Not just a pass but spoken of in loving terms. "Aww he was just doing all of that with a twinkle in his eye, it was tongue in cheek, it was head games, he wasnt serious." Whatever. Meanwhile a 17 year old kid here is talking about how awful Bonavena was to Ali, Frazier, and Lyle when he doesnt even have half of the story. Forgive me for trying to set things straight. Next time I'll just agree that because Bonavena played a practical joke on his trainer that he was as bad as serial wife beating murderer.

Research, if you will, the deplorable way that Monzon treated the paparazzi, repotrers in general...the lawsuits he had against him from his violence directed toward the press...both in Europe and Argentina...and I am probably Monzon's biggest fan here...but he was a monster towards the press. Other than that,, you are mostly correct..King Carlos kept his mouth shut, actually exhibited a sense of fairness...good sportsmanship...and was a relatively clean fighter on the whole otherwise.

Totally makes sense but if an arrogant and disrespectful Bonavena was upsetting his authority I can see a pathway top him getting removed ...

Ali was clearly no saint as fidelity goes and had his share of moments in the gyms , etc . It's all well chronicled ... have to say I'm sure it is common for most fighters who live and breath the gym ... Dempsey was a legendary animal, his behavior out of the ring more defined then his accomplishments in it. His sparring nasty, his playful rough housing mean spirited and lethal .. .. I've seen Hearns be nasty in the gym, Leonard ruthlessly crush a young amateur in the days before the Norris bout, Camacho bully a young kid at Gleasons and take a swing at him and Rorario while training for the Camacho fight scare the crap out of the whole gym .. burger selling Foreman was a vicious bully in his pre-title days not just in the ring but in events surrounding it .. my friend tells me of an event for a bout where Foreman pushed his way through a line of people, many other fighters, to get to the front for food .. don't get me started on Iran Barkley who was a terror as well .. ... Back to Ali, his religious perspective impacted his viewpoints and evolved over time as he also grew up a bit from his twenties to this mid thirties .. from what I've read and seen from the film I've scoured the web for , Bonavena was more heavy-handed and thug like than Ali .. not simply a man child but a bully type in his default position, a heavy duty type of South American machismo dismissive mentality , a bit like Monzon .. I can see him belligerently under estimating and pissing off the wrong people and paying the price ... wasn't there so obviously don't know but doubt he was an innocent victim .. like Dempsey said of Brennan .. "bought the wrong beer. "

I dont think anyone will ever know exactly why he was killed. Conforte was a scumbag and Ross Brymer was a piece of trash who was in and out of jail/prison his whole life. The story was that the business was in Sally's name and as Bonavena became involved with Sally he began to boast that he would soon be in charge of the brothel. Conforte confronted Bonavena, held a gun to his head, and told him if he didnt leave town he'd kill him. Bonavena went to the Argentine Consulate and reported that he feared for his life. Bonavena and Sally left the Ranch and while they were gone Brymer had burned most of Bonavena's things (likely on Joe's orders) and had stolen the rest. Bonavena was returning to the ranch to get his things, not aware that they had been burned, when he was murdered at the gate. Although Conforte's story was that Bonavena was going to the ranch to shoot everyone in sight. My guess, and its just a guess, is that Conforte and/or Brymer feared what would happen if Bonavena got inside the ranch and found out his things had been burned so they killed him at the gate and cooked up that stupid story about Bonavena trying to take over the ranch. Bonavena was found to have a pistol on him when he died but most believe this was planted on Bonavena by the sheriff who was on Conforte's payroll and had refused to let anyone else investigate the crime. Initially Brymer lied to investigators and said he hadnt fired the shot. His attorney had attempted to show that Brymer had not fired the shot but then they cooked up the self defense story around Bonavena being armed. Then finally they settled on the story that Brymer had actually shot Bonavena by accident. The DA, also on Conforte's payroll, was found to have improperly met in private with both Brymer and Conforte and reduced Brymers charges in exchange for a plea. He later said he did so because he couldnt guarantee that he could convict Brymer. Brymer pled no contest to charges of volountary manslaughter, served only 16 months, and then when he was released from prison Conforte had him picked up at the prison parking lot in a limo with a hooker and a bottle of whiskey waiting for him. He didnt even have to be on parole. The whole thing was muddied by Conforte's extensive connections in local law enforcement all the way up to the judges who seemed to be bending over backwards to help Conforte out. During the sentencing the judge even stated that he wished he had a friend who thought as highly of him as Brymer thought of Conforte. I guess the judge hadnt heard that Conforte was in the process of trying to set Brymer up with his own business in the next county.
