Tell me if you guys agree with this statement:

In a P4P H2H sense, Tyson is just as dangerous, if not moreso, than in a HW H2H sense.

I'd like you to think about it as well. Particularly Brooklyn, KG and Amsterdam, to see if you guys see where a case could be made(though I don't neccessarily believe it).

On the flip side, HW's are rarely as skilled as fighters at lower weights.

Yep, that's the double-edged part of this sword. Basically I just see him as incredibly dangerous in a head to head sense.

 

Not just his "potential", but also the level of craft he had. His talent and ability he displayed.

I didn't mean Mike was less skilled, I meant the HW's he faced were rarely as skilled in a P4P sense as the fighters he would be facing like Hagler, Duran, Leonard, Ike WIlliams, etc at lower weights. The fact that big Heavyweights are the only ones anyone picks to beat Mike shows you that in a P4P sense, he would likely be the best HW ever. But would he be as good as the guys at lower weights like the guys mentioned above?

I think he'd be a handful for most in any weight class P4P.

 

I could see a case for Tyson being just as dangerous in a P4P H2H sense because everybody would be the same size and he wouldn't be at a major height disadvantage like he would be against some heavyweights. He wouldn't have to work so hard to get inside and he would be in better range to land his shots. Plus, he wouldn't be punching upwards. So with the leverage he got into his punches, plus being able to punch at somebody his height, he would be even more deadly.

But as you pointed out, most of the P4P H2H greats come in the lower weight classes with guys like Robinson, Jones, Whitaker, Duran, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Monzon, Arguello, Sanchez, Pryor, etc.

I feel there would be more guys in a P4P H2H sense that would probably beat him than there are at heavyweight H2H. I still rank him high P4P, just not as high. Thus, I would conclude that Tyson is more dangerous H2H at heavyweight.

 

As would I, simply too many more greats at lower weights, most being more skilled. At HW though, he's a top 4 in H2H terms.

in a p4p sense i think there are too many h2h beasts at the lower weights, which would make tyson less dangerous. but i'd love to see a 135 lb pound tyson take on the 135 lb duran.

 

Now that would be a thudding war.
