All this stuff about boxing being "tiring" and boxing is "so tough" is rubbish. Your opponent goes through the exact same so it isn't like any of it matters. It is all relative.

It you train properly then 80% of the time it is going to be worse for your opponent than it is for you. Boxing can be easy.

It's rubbish??? LOL Yeah, OK. Sure..it's EASY. Man.... you must either have never boxed before or you boxed someone very inferior. How about if you train hard and your opponent does, too? is it tiring THEN?

I look forward eagerly to your next fight.

Me, I've never stepped in the ring. I've barely ever thrown a punch in anger, I watch too much boxing to need that ;)

I've got no problem admitting my knowledge and opinions here are based on just a part of boxing, viewed from a tv screen and not the whole picture. So threads like this are always appreciated and great for informing me :good

If you havent boxed/sparred for a while you flinch from punches in the ring.

I used to feel specially uncomfortable with intense in-fighting simply b.c. they stayed there and I couldn't outwork em with my own horrible bodypunching ( just awful). The key was always responding by being right on the money from the very first delivery, shoulder smack em in between their shoulders and let em off the leash by stepping away n hook/uppercut on the way out... I always felt they would get more frustrated than me if I wouldn't let them sit well on their punches and jump on them, grabbing their heads under my left arm and applyin body weight on them...

    1. Cotto has to be the aggressor against Floyd just like anybody else so can he get in there with that sharp left jab before Mayweather steps back and discharges a straight right? Can he anticipate that left hook, duck and fire back that fast? That is a double no.

    2. Mayweather was very tentative in the first three rounds and would hit him more when they broke than when he came in. His shots were very sharp but it was Roger to have boosted him to get Ricky outa there after the seventh ( remember Floyd started that round stepping along the ropes)... Still, Floyd took a short loaded right that had him stunned when he cornered Ricky in that eight. The finish was not due to accumulation but entirely due to the perfect left hook into the tenth ( Ricky just a lil bit slower), so it could have happened anytime until that point.

    3. Duran is just something nobody wishes for, not even Hagler. Still, Ray Leonard did that job on him in St. Louis - he had no pain in the belly to keep him from throwing punches like he said to Cossell - after that seventh, Ray just frustrated him that bad...

Not many people train hard, they think they do but they don't like. How hard/tiring is it? That depends wholly on the abilities of yourself and your opponent. If they are significantly better than you then it is best to quit early.

    I play darts mate.

Much less movement and excercise involved. A true sport requiring the utmost mental disipline.

falling for a fient sucks. He sets the bait, u bite, and before teh frusttration sets in, boom u got cracked. Also, a well placed body shot can stop ur attack dead in its track.

HOW AWFUL IT IS THAT IN THE TIME IT TAKES YOU BLINK, YOU CAN GET CAUGHT WITH A BIG SHOT.

Every time you blink, every flinch, every misstep, every time you move your hands somewhere, you risk being hit somewhere else.

You don't realize how small the margin of error is until you see it first hand...

Size and stregth is nothing in boxing. I remember boxing guys 40-50 pounds heavier than me. They were usually just friends who would say that just because i say i can box (there is no gyms around here but i got my lil gym in the basement and train every year when i go to mexico for a month, my cousins are all boxers or have been, One is thinking about going pro but hes only 15 yet) they could beat me based on size alone. I was 140 at the time. They were around 190-200 pounds. Pretty well built guys and play sports all the time. The thing i found is that they have no idea how to throw a punch. Most of the time it would be wide looping shots and i would just feint coming in their range then pull out quick and when they miss with their haymakers i would jump into my range and unload a quick combination on them then get out quick. The only two that ever gave me trouble was my friend who is 200 lbs of pure muscle about 6-2 and hit so ****en hard. That was a tought fight. Cracked some of my teeth. The other one was a 130 pound guy who was fast as hell and i could barely hit. I finally got to him with bodyshots though and stopped him. The first one i stopped right after my teeth broke with a haymaker of my own. Fortunately it landed and it stopped.
