Good example. Holyfield was terrible that fight - the performance was flat, the corner was flat and he just looked tired and old. You’d never have guessed he fought another 16 years or whatever after that night.
Even more amazing to me is both after that fight and getting his head kicked in by Bowe, he went 24 rounds with Lennox Lewis (and most certainly not being shut out of either of them). This last fact is one of the most striking proofs of Holyfield's greatness and placement in the top 8 (easily) heavyweight ATGs.
Sergey Kovalev against Eleider Alvarez in the first fight proved to have been a one-off, as Kova showed in the rematch.
Froch-Groves 1, Lewis-Rahman1 as has been said. I feel AJ-Ruiz1 but will wait for the rematch. Could throw in SRR-Turpin 1 but the rematch was tough too...
Cheers g, I know I saw a picture of JJ walking in the park with a white woman on each arm, with his pet ocelot on a leash, I just can't find it on the internet. That would be the profile picture if I could find it, it was captioned as "the HW champ taking his morning constitutional" ha ha. Absolute pimpin.
James De Gales defeat was touted as an off night but on reflection he’d been in too many wars as no way is he the same fighter he used to be.
