Any credibility you thought you had is about to disappear.

Lewis sued King/Tyson in MAY 2003. Klitschko was installed as the mandatory AFTER their JUNE 2003 fight.

If your going to say something at least get your facts straight.

    Some interesting insight:

Question: Lennox and Emanuel, what changes in training did you have to go through in order to prepare for Klitschko as opposed to Johnson?

Steward: You have two different types of opponents. What I got from Johnson’s comments is that he intended to run when he fought Lewis. He said he was going to try and win the championship with his feet. It is more exciting fighting a guy like Klitschko.

He is too big to be doing any running. You have two guys with tremendous physical strength, and as a result, you are going to have an explosive fight between two big fighters. We just have to adjust to punching up for a change instead of punching down.

A lot of our techniques that we always use to control shorter opponents will not be effective, so we will have to start all over. You cannot get any sparring partners to simulate Klitschko’s style, so we have to go with what we have.

Question: Are you much more motivated for this fight than you were for Kirk Johnson?

Lewis: I am much more motivated for this fight against Klitschko. I am more motivated because of his size and because he has been trying to take me to into court to take my title. I am motivated due to the fact that his promoter likes to see his name in the paper. At one time, we tried to make this fight and his promoter was lying to the Klitschko brothers and overpriced himself trying to get extra money. I feel good and confident about the fight and I am ready to go.

Question: How much longer would you like to fight?

Lewis: Let me get over this one. I could probably get a Roy Jones fight after this year. Jones said he is a heavyweight. Let him prove it. I think it would be intriguing to the fans and to Jones because he believes he can beat me.

The guy you are quoting also thinks a "prime" Golota beats both Klitschkos.

Lewis's career from am to pro spanned 26 years, you don't think that's long?

Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the next round. Lewis did not like his badly broken nose. Next time you look at Lewis' face, look at his nose. Vitali did that to him. Vitali staggered Lewis, Lewis could not staggered Vitali. Lewis was finished at the end of round six, Vitali was not. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the title that night.

Lewis was the one getting stopped if that fight continued. In addition why is everyone saying the stoppage was legitimate? So scumbag Gary Shaw telling the ring doctor to stop the fight so his boy could be saved is legitimate.

Then Lewis talks a bunch of ****, holds the division hostage for a year. Renigs on a promise and runs away like a thief in the night. But that is not good enough for Lewis. He then continues talking **** from his HBO bully pulpit for a few more years.

It is no suprise so many of you are so taken with the guy.

    Fair point.

I still think that Vitali had him worried.

Come on, as a LL fan you don't think that Vitali had a very good shot or was a "betting favorite" in a rematch?

    There's a few possible reasons.

Lewis realised he didn't have it anymore, a full year out from the Tyson fight and a career heavy weigh in support this.
He wanted Jones Jr or Tyson again for a big payday and when those didn't happen he thought 'to he'll with it'.
Sure he promised Vitali a rematch but have you ever told a woman "thanks, I'll call you sometime".
He was pissed Vitali was installed as a mandatory after he beat the guy, how often in the last 30 years has a guy lost to the champ and got an immediate rematch afterall?

Personally I think he took time out to weigh his options and came to the conclusion he didn't have another training camp in him.
Vitali retired him? Nah, Lewis could have dumped the WBC belt and persued other options, his HBO contract had 3-4 opponents as candidates I believe.

    What's a boxers main driving force/goals?
    Financial security - check
    World title - check
    Legacy - check
    Retire on top - check
Retire while your brain still functions - check

Lennox Lewis would have KOED VK in the next round.

Don't think anyone has ever disagreed with that at least.

Me? If I've said that, I very much doubt I was being serious.

Put a half decent brain in Golota's head, and he could have been a threat to Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis etc in his era. But that's like saying give Lewis Holyfields chin and you wouldn't beat him either. It's irrelevant.

He was jobbed against ruiz and byrd when well past it too.

He'd have had a chance against either K Brother. why not? It's not like they're both unbeaten, and Wlad has tasted canvas 13 times FFS.

Golota certainly wouldn't be a favourite though.

Of course I wasn't being serious. Just saying that to say Vitali retired Lewis is ridiculous. It might hold water if Lewis had been 28, not 38.

On the night? Probably just to make Vitali, who was acting like a loon, **** off.

I think Lewis couldn't be ****ed with hard fights at that point of his career for sure. It was purely about money.

And I dare say that if Lewis could have lined up a succession of fights against Arreola, Kevin Johson, Sosnowski and a 38 yr old Briggs, he'd have been defending his title at 40 too.

****, he could probably beat all those guys now, at what, 45?
