Warren said on IFL he was meant to be fighting someone but they got beat at the weekend. Can only think it was Thomas Oosthuizen? Or have I missed the obvious?
ITV were abysmal. They have a platform that could have made these tournaments huge but instead they burrows them on a channel that even hardcore fans struggled to gain access to. What they should have done was have the Cruiserweight first round and semis on terrestrial TV and then the final on PPV. Then with the Sames do the same with the exception of Groves v Eubank which garnered enough hype to do PPV on its own. It would have built major interest in the tournament as a whole Nd the finals would have been far bigger and probably done decent PPV numbers. I don't expect Usyk v Gassiev even did 50k, don't see Groves v Smith doing more than 100k and I aren't even think what Smith v Dutch kickboxer did, probably Paul, Stephen and Liam, their parents and whatever family the Dutchman had. Not only that but a hugely successful tournament would have built the next one's to be bigger and so on. Instead we go into this one hoping they aren't involved.
Weeks over. We got no Wilder - Fury. WBSS double header and ITV confirmed. Eggington - Rios on Joshua undercard, meh. Usyk - Bellew got a step closer. Or further away (Lebedev) We got announcement that there should be announcement on Yarde’s next opponent on Monday. Khan v Brook announcement could happen after tonight’s fight. Not the greatest of weeks to be honest.
