And if Canelo crazy ass decides to fight him before the end of the year, there will be no room for debate as to who is the fighter of the year for 2019. WAR "S.O.W." Kovalev!!!

I reckon it's gonna be a great fight. Experience v unbeaten young pretender.Honestly can't call Yardes chances as he's not fought anyone.

Not even sparred anyone. Kovalev is either completely shot to bits or Yardes one of the most naturally gifted fighters in the history of boxing if Yarde wins this.

I am not sure Yarde with his limited fight experience gets Kovalev fighter of the year, but perhaps. Yarde has power I give him that. If he connects to Kovalev's chin cleanly, I think he wins the title.

Kovalev deserves alot of credit for taking his belt back but beating Yarde doesnt mean all that much. Certainly not no FOTY

Beating Yarde amounts to something close to nothing.

The fight in in Kovalev's hometown in Russia, not in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Sochi, Samara or any other bigger known cities but in Chelyabinsk near the Kazakhstan border.

Anthony Yarde has fought nothing but completely unheralded tomato cans so far and now decides to jump from the base of a mountain right to the very top, this mountain being in a foreign land and the hometown of his opponent. This is the definition of a mismanaged career.

Yarde will not only be facing Kovalev, but also the crowd, the judges, the ref, the foreign environment. This is an uphill struggle and one in which he should not have agreed to regardless of how "brave" he is.

I give him very little chance.

I think Andy Ruiz Jr. has a better claim to FOTY title than Kovalev, even if Kova can scrape by the vaunted........... Yarde, is it?

Kovalev will get little credit for beating Yarde. There will be one man in that ring though who would stand an outside chance of becoming FOTY. If Yarde beats Kovalev in his backyard to win the title then he would have to be in the conversation, much would depend on how Sergey looked.

Yades a nobody, nothing special at all, so Kovalev is expected to beat him & once its over its history ,nothing special will register. Only good thing will be, as been said. it will help Yardes career either way as its a great expirience plus good exposure . Can't see how it benefits Kovalev at all, surprised he took the fight, maybe its a stay busy fight? One thing springs to mind though & could be "Sod's Law" , last time Kovalev took a show fight back to Russia he had a really tough fight against Chilemba, he didn't look good in that fight ...but Yarde ain't in the samer league as Chilemba...but you never know lol

Yarde does have hard punches and he works the body if his opponent goes on the ropes. He is an offensive fighter but not very defensive. He looks strong even against the weak guys he fought, the problem is he keeps his hands so low. So this fight could be an early knockout either way.

If Kov is fighter of the year for beating a guy who has previously been fighting at Hungarian plumber / Albanian cab driver level then that is not a good look for boxing.

No obvious candidate for foty currently though as so many top boxers are so inactive.

If Ruiz starches Joshua again then it's got to be Mr Snickers.
