****ey, at his peak, would have been a massive step up for Tyson. Yes, Tyson was fast but if ****ey was to land anything big, Tyson could be in serious trouble. Also, that ****ey knocks out Berbick.

Incorrect... He was given a title a shot against Spinks based on name alone... But in his first attempt against Holmes he was very much a legit contender going into that fight.

I know it all too well and am well aware of the breaks he got because of his political situation. These things were largely responsible for why he got huge pay days against Michael Spinks and George Foreman despite not having done anything noteworthy in years. But his first big pay check against Larry Holmes was well earned.. He was undefeated in 25 fights and had demolished everyone put in front of him.. Sure Norton, young and Lyle were shot. But you still would have been hard pressed in 1980 to find more than perhaps 12-15 guys who were still better than those three were and even fewer who could have done to them what Gerry did... And looking at the rest of the division, it mostly consisted of challengers who Holmes had either already beaten or weren't very good to begin with, or simply not ready yet... So what you say about C00ney is true but also needs to be put in the right context.

He was as much a contender as Foreman and Bowe when they first challenged for the title.

Holmes' best performance was against Gerry ****ey. Larry controlled most of the fight, all the while weary of ****ey's massive power. Holmes used his jab to great effect. moved in and out. delivered precise combo's when he had to. then wore Gerry down & closed the show perfectly. without getting overanxious & possibly getting caught with a desperate left hook.
As we all know Tyson ko,d a prime Holmes rather easily...****ey would ,t last a round.

What? The Holmes that Tyson ko'd was nowhere near the Holmes that fought ****ey.

And where is the relevance of Your comment ? You are using as argument what ****ey did prime vs prime against holmes And what peak tyson did to a 38 years old holmes? Even if they fought the same version of larry it has nothing to do with a fight between ****ey And tyson... Styles make fights, PLUS I AM TALKING ABOUT A GREEN 10-0 TYSON VS A PEAK ****EY... UH? I imagine that you are drunk or anything if not i cant find explanation for this absurd text
