I'd have to give the edge to Valero. I don't know how his power would carry to 140, but I think his overall quickness would have been too much for Cotto.

This will have moments similar to Cotto vs Torres, Valero could keep it up longer than Torres without tiring so early but I also expect Cotto to eventually break him down and finish him off late. Cotto is NOT easy to finish off, when hurt he can be more dangerous and always throwing counters with KO power behind them.

    Interesting thread.

An incredible war which would be one for the ages. Probably with some good knockdowns to boot

Valero and quite brutally. Not because of any dramatic superiority of skill on Valero's part but largely due to Miguel's low capacity for absorbing punishment and brawling.

It was impossible to fight Valero without brawling at some point. He would force you to trade, or get KTFO, at some point.

Like Bruce Lee, who died just as he was beginning to reach the fame he thirsted for his entire life, so did Valero, just as he was maybe two fights away from a showdown with Pac.

Fate is very cruel on some guys. Very cruel.
