He's 5/1 at william hills. I cant resist sticking a few quid on that. He might be able to catch Ward late. That's the same as SSM was against Manny and AA has a damn sight more chance than Shane ever had. Thoughts?
Big Abraham fan but Froch outboxed the crap out of him... Still, I think it should be more 3/1 and in this tournament, anyone has a chance...except Bika and Green. lol.
His back is against the corner and he knows his career is in limbo right now. I think his odds are more better than it should be. You need lateral movement and workrate to beat a guy like AA and although Ward has that lateral movement, it will be interesting to see if he throws more punches or does more of that hold & headbutt bull****.
AA cant win unless he lands those KO shots The reason why Bika had so much success was due to his workrate which disrupted Ward's tempo and flow. Abraham is known to be in a shell, he has been fighting like that for years now and he wont be able to change overnight, so Abe's best chance is a KO. Theres no way he wins more rounds than Ward
Im rooting for arthur big time but I think he has a punchers chance and nothing more.. Im almost positive ward will give him a boxing lesson. I will still drop 20$ on AA by KO.. Just in case!
I think it is very hit or miss. The only bright spot I see is AA had two big layoffs before his last two losses. This time he took a tune up bout in February and you may see a much better Abraham. He seemed really outclassed vs Froch and was not able to counterpunch or do anything effective. if that was due to the inactivity it could turn out to be a very interesting fight. Ward uses athleticism and pure boxing skills more than he does his height. it is a slight overlay and being the layoff issue as a real possibility he should be +375 -+425. Decent value.
True, but that also had much to do with Arthur being totally disinterested. Dirrell is faster and slicker than Froch and Arthur still was clawing back into the fight late, hurt and hunted him. Whether he would have lost or gotten the late KO without the foul, he still had a chance and gave Dirrell trouble. He never bothered Froch, never hit him even when Froch was right in front of him. No idea what happened to Arthur in that fight....
Any puncher with boxing skills is a live underdog and for Chrissakes he outperformed Froch, Pavlik and Hopkins vs Taylor who said he was in the shape of his life, but this is a horrible style match-up for AA. I'd give him a better chance beating Froch today than beating Ward, Abraham lacks solid inside skills and Andre will bring it to him. Does he have a chance of landing a biggie? Of course. But Ward is the kind of consistent and determined guy who knows this and will be alert for 12. The upset would surprise me very much.
Arthur was the same that night but the fact that Froch is far different to dirrell. Froch was there to be hit, however, he boxed excellently utilising his range and power shot off a very stiff jab. Froch threw lots of punches with power in order to keep Arthur off him and managed to maintain this for the whole 12 rounds. He new he had to cos AA could hurt him badly even with his excellent chin. Dirrell showed signs of weakening against aa therefore many suspected aa was going to do his usual thing and get them out of there late on. AD was having real problems maintaining his movement and hadn't imo the power to keep AA away in the later rounds.. Be interesting to see if Ward can boss AA with the same kind of authority that froch did. For me wards style lends itself to AA causing him some problems.. You beat aa easily by keeping him at range with a high punch out put, something I haven't seen too much of ward doing.
I agree that he should rather be a 3/1 underdog instead of a 5/1 one. Wanted to bet my VCash on Wards but taking the odds into account, I went for Abraham As long as he doesn't provide another no show performance, I'm happy. He doesn't have to win this fight for me, he just has to try as hard as he can.
Since when has AA had one punch KO power at 168. If he catches Ward with his biggest shot he will need to follow with at least some more. It ain't happening. Ward will box to a 4-8 point victory.
