Bull****. When was he that inactive in the ring like he was in his last two fights? A lot has to do with being that inactive. Just sitting behind the turtle shell is not exactly what you should do, if you want to win a fight (even if you know that you only can win by KO, you can't afford to hesitate all the time to let your hands go). The difference is that Abraham used to do his "flurry thing" much more often in other fights. He really seems to be scared. He lost his balls - that's the problem. Pavlik would annihilate him now...but not two years ago.

Can't you tell he wasn't trying? No one's arguing he'da beaten either Forch or Ward, we're just pointing out that he wasn't trying.

But Arthur has always had a tendency to shell up and do nothing when he is under attack, especially when the attacker is a longer-taller guy with a good jab. Lately he's been fighting guys who capitalize on that weakness, but that weakness has always been there.

The shell expends all his energy. He covers his face can't see and when throws vs taller fighters he swings and misses and it take the air out of him. then he has to go back in the shell to restart. it is designed to fail. he could have been exploited even easier by going to the body because he can't even see what the hell is coming.

I remember watching this fight at the time and I was waiting the whole fight for Abraham to show some top class skills against an overmatched opponent, it didn't turn out that way it ended up being a very close fight, people blamed it on the weight but to be fair I think it would be more accurate to just say Abraham was never an elite fighter.

    This.

If you've fought one way your whole career, it's difficult to change it up. Even if you are getting well beaten.

The reason he comes on in the 2nd half of fights is because he is conserving his energy...You could see last night, the quick start took it out of him along with Ward's body punching...At 168, he tires easier, his punches don't have the same effect, and if he tries to take the 1st half of the fight off, the extra weight behind his opponents punches have him beat to **** by the time the 2nd half comes...

He also gets tired wrestling the bigger stronger guys at this weight too...
