Hard call, Chavez might outwork him, but at 130 Arguello hit hard

Kevin Rooney tried to outwork Arguello and had no success, even though Rooney was nowhere near Chavez`s level he threw a lot of punches while Arguello was standing and trading with him, Alexis kept him off by punching with him something that would help him against Chavez, Taylor outworked JC in their fight in the same way by constantly keeping Chavez off balance with fast punches but this simply wasn`t enough Taylor didn`t have the defense of Arguello or Whitaker who outboxed JC, I counted 14 punches landed on Chavez in the third round of that fight, I mention that because Chavez was cutting off the ring well early on in that fight yet in this impressive early round Whitaker was able to land 14 blows while only taking 3, difference would be Alexis would stand in front of Chavez like the Pryor fight but he kept his right hand high which would pick off a lot of Chavez`s hooks.

NOBODY at 130 walks in and trades with Alexis and survives. Left hook right cross jab body punching chin strength Arguello greatest ever 130 and the great Chavez gets taken out by The Explosive Thin Man. KO and Victoria for Arguello.

I'd go with Arguello. I think 130 was his best weight, and the division where he was most dominant. On the other hand, while he managed to rack up a very impressive record at Super-Feather, I think Chavez was a much more comfortable and dangerous fighter at 135 and 140. At 130, he looked a bit drawn and certainly didn't seem as strong and bullish as he did at the higher weights - take a look at how Laporte was able to maul him and push him back.

Arguello wasn't the greatest of inside fighters, so Chavez needs to get inside a.s.a.p here, but he's going to have to navigate that frightening straight punching of Alexis'. I think making 130 told on Chavez and I'd expect Arguello to duly test him to the body consistently throughout the fight - and Arguello was one monstrous body puncher (just ask Andy Ganigan!).

Chavez was as tough as they come and makes life hard for Arguello, but I think the Nicaraguan takes the decision in a brutal bout. Wouldn't rule out a knockdown somewhere along the line, similar to how Randall put Julio down, but I think Chavez goes the distance. Something like 115-112 over twelve, or 144-140 over fifteen.

AA hits too hard for Chavez. Don't think Chavez faced anyone at that weight with that kinda power.

Arguello went into Alfredo Escalera's own back yard in Puerto Rico, and TKO'ed AE to take his
WBC Superfeatherweight Title in a bloodbath. Escalera grossly underrated and had held the title for about
4-1/2 years, with about 13 title fights. AA gave Escalera a later rematch, and TKO'ed Alfredo again.
Going with AA vs JC, by a very late stoppage, or decision.

LOL at people saying Arguello stops Chavez. Nobody stops prime Chavez at 130-140, NOBODY.

Chavez had a good reign at Superfeather, with his best victories probably over Roger Mayweather (RTD), shop worn Ruben Castillio (TKO), Rocky Lockridge (MD), and Juan Laporte (UD).
