AAA retires officially

The article (I dont think) was created to discuss how good he was it was to announce his retirement from the very very hard sport of boxing.

Most of the responses on here are IMO disrespectful to what he achieved in the sport and what he has done for boxing.

 

Fair enough and certainly true with regards to wishing him the best/thanking him etc. IIRC Hayemake actually said something similar, he just got everyone giving him grief for stating how he classed him as a fighter.

 

It wasnt a great comparison admittedly but I was just pointing out that its quite common for British fighters to pick up a vacant or interim wbo title and make a lot of noise about being world force but not really doing much. Jonny nelson was a more established champion but in an awful division and he had plenty of shocking defences, enzo was never really world class but had a great career despite that as did nelson and Arthur.

 

There's always been a air of negativity about Arthur as a fighter. I think he was a good fighter beat some good fighters. A guy who i felt underachieved but still had a fine career and can retire happy knowing he achieved a great deal and can now preach the gospel.

He was his own worst enemy IMO.
