Aaaaaaaaannnnnd STILL....

I still can't understand why anyone throws vitriol in Ward's direction. The guy was dealing with injuries and a long litigation battle with his former promoter. Those are the reasons his career went stagnant after his impressive KO of Chad Dawson.

I'm perplexed as to why he's hated so much on this forum. He conducts himself in a very mature and appropriate manner, is willing to fight anyone, and he's almost always very dominant in his matches.

Is it impossible for some people to like both Golovkin and Ward? I would've liked to seen that fight between them happen, it's obviously not going to take place anymore, so now it' time to move on.

 

ward has never given anyone a reason to not believe him....his word is trusted in boxing circles and hes known as a straight shooter

the reason a lot hate is simple...and obvious....he emasculated their savior...their hero....he showed real people what lil really is and branded him lil g.....and it makes people angry

these guys constantly talk about how he hasn't done anything noteworthy "in years" and all that nonsense...neglecting to mention that hes 2 years younger than lil g and still with a better resume...and he lost nearly 2 years of his prime due to "circumstances"....which of course is a favorite word of the lil g hugger click....when u mention lil gs lack of resume and career "oh well he had promo problems with universum that stalled his career"...when it happens to ward its because he just doesn't wanna fight....its unreal

when he fights kovalev, just stepping through the ropes, will be greater than anything lil g will ever do in the game of boxing

 

I don't mind Ward but his problems are largely of his own making. The litigation he got caught up in was utterly ridiculous. I have no idea what he thought he was doing.

He does appear difficult to make fights with. He was a beltless contender entering the super 6 yet had the red carpet rolled out for him and had every possible demand met. Meanwhile seasoned champs weren't afforded anywhere near the same level of treatment. This shows you how he operates, it's always been his way or nothing.

What makes this so frustrating is he IS a special talent. It's a shame he's managed his career so poorly post S6. He should have bee the one schooling Bute and getting the plaudits but he chose to halt his momentum.

I could agree with a lot of what you've said

you have to remember though...ward was also an underdog in the super 6....and for whatever reason everyone agreed to let him do what he did in the super 6....because they wanted him in it to prove to themselves who the best really was

as far as bute...I mean...its the same old thing really...he doesn't fight bute and hes the boogeyman...he doesn't fight Stevenson and hes the boogeyman.....its like u must fight every guy even though its not always feasible....at least ward has fought some guys though

I think ward changed his tune on bute after going through the 6 though....ward worked hard and fought some tough fighters....while bute sat around beating up nobodies and waiting to take on the winner....and when ward was done hes like "ive been busting my but...taking tough fights and this guy wants to swoop in and get a crack at me while hes been barely breaking a sweat"......I think one could see where he might take that point of a view

its all moot anyway...the minute bute stepped up he got exposed ....he doesn't even matter anymore

 

Ward is frustrating. So talented yet gives the appearance that he really is a big part of the problem in getting fights made. Hearn said that Cleverly was offered the Ward fight, Cleverly accepted then Ward's team dithered about too long so Cleverly went in a different direction.

 

ward is prob looking for the cheapest available guy at this point...so he can maximize his check...this fight isn't really important to ward as far trying to up his status...he has the big one ahead of him....hes prob looking for an approvable guy who will take the least amount of money

I don't know too much about Ward except that he a good boxer and seems articulate during interviews. So, in general, I really like the guy. I'm just worried at this point that all this will sabotage the Kovalev fight this year.

Ummmm, you mean "white" American fighters? That's cause I don't know/watch any. All of the "white" eastern European fighters I like are NOT well spoken. Well... sort of well spoken considering English is their second language. I do say that Max Kellerman is very well spoken.

 

I dont care who he fights as long as he gets in the ring with Kovalev everything else is static noise to me , if any other division/figthers will fight a bum from the street or even 2 and then give me the best fight around their weight class i will be a happy fan , Ward is getting all the credit from me if he takes the kovalev fight but if he doesnt.... man this will be the worst thing he could do to his carrer and fans , lets hope we get to see Kov vs Ward sooner rather then later.
