sure he went undefeated until like his 35th fight...but look at how everyone goes ape **** over him, calling him the best ever at 140 and who did he beat...Mayweather, Jones, and De La Hoya has beaten twice the champs and hall of famers he beat and gets half the respect....boxing is a popularity contest....casual fans suck and dilute real great fighters legacy's. based off what? their personality? As long as they kick as idc if they are a *****...church

he was more ducked than anyone else in that era...

Mayweather, Jones, and De La Hoya have beaten twice the champs because there are about 500 more to choose from in this candy ass era
    now go to bed

Pryor being this ducked guy by the bigger names is a myth. For one, he fought at a different weight class. Second, he had offers to face Leonard and Duran. He turned down the Leonard fight, which would've been a career high payday, because he wanted more money, and turned down the Duran fight because of managerial issues.

As far as his ATG rating goes, he often gets overrated, but he's a handful for any 140 lb fighter and ranks highly at the weight.

I am not sure overrated. Thing is the guy beat a legend in a great war. That gives him a lot of credit. He proved he can hang in there with a legend, take big punches and stop the legend. Then he wins the rematch in convincing fashion, which meant a lot. I've always thought he was a little overrated on not having a great long career, but Cervantes and Arguello were tops, with Arguello being a legit great who was not as past his prime as people think. A little past his weight.

Sometimes you have to forget what people say and make up your own mind.

With that in mind I personally really liked his style and I thought he was a great boxer who was unfortunately avoided.

Just like you say boxing can be a popularity contest in the same way that can affect who you get to fight and Pryor simply wasnt popular enough to get that career defining fight and if he did (before his drug days) I think he would have given a great account of himself.

not sure where you get your info, but i actually know Aaron and his wife and I believe their word over that of what has been regurgitated all over these boards.... so what aaron wasnt in the same weight division as leonard...neither was duran but he took that fight? duran was a lightweight champ with a handful of fights at 140, while pryor was a 140 pound champ....but he was too small i guess. they told me not only did leonard pass on him, camacho and mancini wanted nothing to do with him either....

sure sure...so instead of chasing Hearns and Leonard he couldnt have fought camacho, Mancini, Chavez, Whitaker,Iimmy Paul, Duran, Palomino, Rosario or anyone else worth note at or near hear his size...bs...in the 80's their the best fighters roamed from 135 to 147, he started as a lightweight didnt he fight Arguello...there is no excuse ducked my ass....he didnt fight anyone save Cervantez(old ass hell) and Arguello( fourth weight and slightly past prime) not impressive dude

Duran had left 135 over 2 yes earlier and defeated a top 147 contender in Palomino.

Pryor turning down a half-million to face Leonard comes from his own mouth, after he beat Blackmoore.

Just for a comparison, he made $50k a few months earlier when he beat Cervantes for the title. So it was a lot more than he was used to making. Of course Leonard was gonna make a lot more, he was the draw and a ****ing diva. But it was still a chance to face Leonard for a career high payday and he said no.

obviously you know ****..... when you are ducked, for whatever reason .... it means you are not getting the fights...i just told you dumbass that camacho turned him down as well as mancini.......this comes from aaron pryors mouth...he is on record and on tv after some of his title fights confronting leonard who had other plans, kevin howard, kalule , retirement...you know, important stuff

Dont think hes overrated by most, ive never heard anyone say he was greater than Locche, Cervantes, Perkins, and others cause he simply wasnt. However, I rate both Floyd and Oscar higher also. I might get **** for this, but I rate him pretty much where I rate Hatton. the difference is only that he beat the great Arguello which imo was more because Arguello was at the end of his career and above his best weight. Arguello>Pryor all day. Pryor was very good imo but shy of being a legend.

theres more than one way to say you have no interest in fighting someone....

500 grand while the other guy gets 8 million
he knew that would be balked at and wasnt a serious offer

no different than mayweathers offer to pac, he knew that was unacceptable
