If not for the drugs, Pryor would have absolutely destroyed Meldrick.

This would be a very interesting & great fight.

15 rds - Pryor by TKO.

12 rds - Toss-up, maybe Taylor by Decision.... similar to the Chavez fight except MT takes less to the body throughout & hears the final bell looking the worse of the 2 but having his hand raised after surviving 2 rocky rds (11 & 12) won clearly by Pryor.

The only time I ever saw Pryor struggle with a boxer / puncher was when he was faded in 1985 against a hungry Gary Hinton on TV... Pryor got lucky with that decision.... However, prime-4-prime, I give the nod to Pryor over Mel Taylor....

Chavez was always kinda' slow but powerful and accurate..... Pryor was quick but also sloppy as hell... Speed and power would get to Mel Taylor in the end.... Christ, the slower Chavez eventually broke through, and so would a peak Aaron Pryor..... Pryor wins...

Pryor by 13th, 14th round stoppage, even with Taylor, or slightly behind on cards.

    Aaron Pryor all the way.

Meldrick Taylor had the advantage in speed, but that is it. This is more than that. This how does Meldrick deal with the power, fierceness, and versatilty of Pryor? Over-achieving against a less than Prime Chavez is much different than going head up the prime Hawk who cannot be hurt or intimidated.

Taylor is not a boxer, he would look to engage. And he would get all he wanted and more. Taylor would be facing a faster, meaner multi-combation throwing fire storm. Taylor make the bell but not in the best shape.

It would be a beauty of a fight though.
