Aaron Pryor is the greatest 140 pound fighter of all time.

    Aaron Pryor late KO.

Not a chance. Nobody around 135-40 was stopping Pernell Whitaker at his best. :deal

i'd say prior in a close fight that could go either way. his aggression/activity would win over the judges, with whitaker landing the cleaner shots.

why are a few of you saying pryor would stop whitaker? thats ridiculous... whitaker had a great chin (the times i can remember him being knocked down were when he was off balance -- come to think of it, pryor suffered a few of these himself) and obviously was one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time

the only way pryor ko's him is if whitaker stands toe to toe and brawls like he did in the baby jones fight and that aint happenin

I've seen both of them fight numerous times. They were great fighters.

I'm talking about them being UNDERRATED.

They were both rated very high by boxing publications such as The Ring.

They are both constantly praised on message boards.

    How often are they UNDERRATED?

Just look at this thread and some of the over-the-top responses. It's always like that for Pryor.

Not even close to being the best 140lber of all time. He was a great fighter but his level of opposition, excluding the arguello fights and an old ass Cervantes leaves something to be desired. Locche would have made someone like Pryor look silly if they thought; he probably would have barely landed any punches. A young Benitez would more than likely also school Pryor. And I like Pryor, not trying to take anything away from him; but the 140lb division in boxing is filled with greats from all time periods and with guys that would beat Pryor.

You have got to be taking the ****, aaron pryor would have destroyed locche for fun.

no one could handle the power of pryor, he was a beast that would KO anyone who stepped in his way.

 And you're dissing other people's opinions with completely over the top nonsense like you just posted? You overrate the hell out of Pryor, get a grip.

Pryor had good punch but Locche was never legitametly ko'd and faced many power punchers in his career. I don't see Pryor winning that fight at all. And Benitez would have absolutely schooled Pryor if they had ever fought. Pryor does not have the level of opposition to be considered the greatest 140lber ever. He is in the top 10, but it would be debatable to include him in the top 5.

Pryor could punch, but he wasn't some freakish puncher.

It was more his ridiculous activity level. He kept the leather coming and threw from numerous angles.

Pryor would outwork benitez with ease, his punch output would be too much for anyone to handle, he would **** anyone up who stepped in the ring with him.

Whitaker UD in a clean fight. Toss up in a fight where Pryor was allowed to drink "mixed" crack juice in his corner. :tong

But usually they are not knowledgable, they just watched Legendary Nights and think they know what they're talking about.

Pryor really isn't obscure though. Any boxing fan with a decent knowledge of boxing history should know Pryor.

Please take a step back from Pryor's nuts and back into reality. Benitez was infinitely better than Pryor.
