arguello was not past his prime when they met...Arguello showed no signs of being down hill before his fight with Pryor...

Also Arguello was alot better of a fighter than Arturo ever was.

I am fully aware that Gatti took tremendous punishment in winning his fights, but against a guy who never stopped throwing (and landing) punches at full power....

Pryor TKO 8 with Gatto having to be carried out of the ring in a stretcher.....

Pryor by stoppage within 3, with Gatti never fighting again.

Very simple. Even a past primed Arguello is 10x better than the BEST Gatti. Gatti continues to be one of the most overrated fighters of all time. Ivan Robinson TWICE kicked his ass, and came on the verge of stopping him. Aaron Pryor would have raped him.

Plus Arguello was an absolutely masterful boxer, whereas Gatti is very poor.
Pryor before the 6th, probably a corner stoppage with Gatti's eyes hanging out.

I dont recall Aaron Pryor being put on his back by Angel Manfredy, and nearly stopped by Ivan Robinson. You are severly overrating Gatti. Arturo was an HBO hype creation, and he was in no way, shape, or form on the level of Aaron Pryor.

And Gatti is VERY outgunned by Pryor. Pryor would mercilessly beat him to the punch just as Ivan Robinson did, only Pryor hit WAAY harder than Robinson, so the result would be pretty ugly... for Gatti.

Because a past prime Arguello is about 5 times better than a prime Gatti!

No doubt he would be even more outgunned in this fight.

I think some of us are getting a little carried away here..Gatti would last a few rounds at least..The man was never counted out and there is no doubting his heart.

Either way there are two inevitabilities in this fight:

    1. Gatti loses.

    2. Gatti does not see the final bell..whether it take 5 rounds, 9 rounds or 14 rounds, he will be battered mercilessly and stopped.

As much a mismatch as this is I just dont see Gatti getting blasted out to early..I think he goes 3 rounds minimum, he may visit the floor inside that time but I think he will continue for at least a little while.

gatti was nowhere near pryors class of fighter. Pryor much better all-around, was a better boxer, faster. and at least equal in punching power.

gatti wasn't skillfull enough defensively to continually evade pryors punches and not fast enough to trade with him. His aggressive style would play right into pryors hands. Pryor by tko inside of 5.
