Aaron Pryor vs Niccolino Locche

don't know much about Nicco, just seen some clips of him, he's amazing, love it! BUT, I think Pryor is much to busy for him, and would probably overwhelm him and knock him out

Following Pryor-Arguello II, every published opinion I read on Locche-Pryor stated that the Hawk would have found Nicotino too untouchable. It wouldn't be a matter of who punched the most, but who landed the most punches. We see Locche score well with his hook to Fuji's body. Like many defensive specialists, when he did punch, he tended to connect, and Pryor often had his chin in the air.

Aaron was a headhunter, not somebody who went downstairs much. Regardless, it wouldn't matter with the way Locche smothered Fuji's body blows. The two of them go into a phone booth, Nicotino's right uppercut out of his clamshell would be connecting.

Pryor might throw 150 punches per round through 15, while Locche might attempt 15 or 20, but by the final bell, Nicotino will have landed most of the scoring blows, driving the Hawk bonkers in the process.

I regard Aaron Pryor very highly, but this is one match-up I've never liked him in. He'd get frustrated, lose his composure, become ever more wild, and Locche would have a field day as his spoiler tactics got more and more under the Hawk's skin.

An interesting read but I completely disagree with the outcome. Hawk has the gas tank and perpetual motion attack to win this. Yes, Locche was as slick as they come but the volume punching of Pryor takes this, not many would land but he would be so much busier the judges would award it.

Pryor was reckless and wild at times but it worked so well for him. I have a hard time seeing Locche land significant blows to back or stagger Pryor up. With Pryor we are talking Henry Armstrong level of output which is elite. Spoiling tactics probably prolong the fight but don't change the outcome with a Pryor win.

 

Armstrong was a friend of Pryor's of course, and Hammerin' Hank accompanied The Hawk to the weigh-in for Arguello I.

One huge difference between Henry and Aaron was Armstrong's reliance on body blows and superiority on the inside. I think close quarters would provide a refuge for Locche with Pryor that he wouldn't have obtained with Hank. Aaron would be missing badly, costing him points. I believe Nicotino to be somebody who would make Pryor's volume work against him, something less likely with Armstrong.

Effective aggression would be the key I suspect, and I don't expect that Aaron's aggression would be effective the way Hank's would be over the championship distance.

 

Even if Pryor was to win, it would have been due to sheer volume....I still love Locche....he was a marvel....always a pleasure for me to watch.

Was Niccolino Loche really better than "his fellow Italian" Nino LaRocca? Before you answer, look at the records and watch film.

 

I just about give Pryor an edge because his aggression really was none stop and Locche wouldn't be able to command his respect.

Whilst Locche was an incredible technician and had terrific defence he fell in love with his own aura a bit and was very inactive. So yes he night slip 6 punches in a row but the 7th or 8th will get through and after that exchange Locche is gonna throw very little in return.

I'm sure that Pryor will be made to look foolish but I have no doubts that he will out land Locche nearly every round.

When you make em miss you have to make em lay and El intocable wouldn't make Pryor pay.
