Aaron Pryor was supposed to fight

Sugar Ray Leonard took a warm up fight first against Roger Stafford. He detached his retina, fight off he retired briefly soon afterwards. Pryor never got the fight he craved more than any other the chance to meet Sugar Ray Leonard and the chance to really turn into the household name he should have been.


He did go on to have those great fights against Arguello, and made better money than the potential Leonard fight in both. The Ring named the first fight a 14th round stoppage win for Pryor as fight of the decade. The fight had its side story with his trainer Panama Lewis involvement and the infamous ‘other bottle’.

 

Pryor was an amazing fighter with a high workrate style, the same style Duran used to bully Ray in Montreal.

 

Pryor goes 1-1-1

beats Mancini, loses to Duran, and beats Leonard but fight is scored a draw.

 

That's true but it is also the same style that didn't work for Duran in their second fight and Duran was better than Pryor.

 

Roberto Duran knocks Pryor out cold. Duran had the physical advantages on Pryor and Aaron's reckless defense and crazy attacks would get him brutally countered and starched. Won't go 5 rounds

 

I feel Leonard would need to throw a lot more shots to beat Pryor.

 

Pryor was great at slipping shots and took Arguello`s best shots.

 

Arguello was older and wasn't nearly as quick as Duran. Two different fighters.

 

Loses to Leonard and Duran but beats Mancini.

 

Think it depends on whether the special black bottle is administered.

 

Theyre both levels above him, they always beat Pryor
