I wasnt saying Arguello was rubbish or anything, just up at 140 he wasnt as effective as at 135 or below. Yes their first fight was awesome but i put that down to the greatness of Arguello as oppsed to Pryor. What i mean is Arguello was past his prime a couple of divisions above his ideal weight and he still gave an alleged top ATG at 140 hell. It was down to Arguello's greatness not Pryor's. But thats just my opinion:good
u guys are ridiculos to think that you can mix cocaine and water and one or tosips of that water would make that much of difference.
Yeah, Cocaine in water is null. Taking a couple of sips wouldn't do anything. Panama Lewis said it was Schnapps to help a bad stomach. Even if that was the truth, it would still be illegal. Arguello said it himself 'Pryor didn't need that black bottle to beat me'.
although it did seem a very dodgy affair using the bottle "i mixed", i personally dont think it would of had an affect on the fight outcome based on the digestion period, yes whatever was in the bottle could of been absorbed via the gums in a very high dose , but it would take the average person 30-40 minutes to feel the effects and a tired fighter between 15-20 minutes
his low record of 39 wins speaks for itself, but let's keep in mind that the jr welterweight division back then was kind of WEAK, so nobody ever dared to fight aaron pryor.
It wasnt cocaine. Ive done cocaine. And mixing cocaine with water doesnt do anything, the water will dilute the effects, and you wouldnt even feel it until at least 15-30 minutes after you drank it. And it would be a regular high, not in the slightest I have no doubt it was some type of stimulant though. I have been watching boxing for over 2 decades, and that is still the ONLY fight I have ever seen where an exhausted fighter came out the next round with insane energy as though it was first round of the fight. It wasnt even a rally by Pryor, it literally was if he just done lines of coke. He went from being completely fatigued to sprinting to the center of the ring. It simply does not make any rational sense. That victory is always tainted for me. I still feel that Arguello should have won
the rematch pryar beat him even quicker!!! I'm sure they drug tested him in which they failed to do in the first fight.
We will never know what was in that bottle. Like others have mentioned, it does not matter because ANYTHING other than water was illegal. We do know that Pryor fought like a man who would rather die than lose. We also know that Alexis Arguello started his pro career just 4 months after his 16th birthday, and that his first battle with Pryor was his 82nd pro fight. El Flaco Explosivo fought in 3 different decades, ruled 3 divisons, and never lost a world title. The version of Alexis that Pryor faced was ring worn, and faded. Alexis is one of the finest gentlemen who ever laced up a pair of boxing gloves. Unfortunately for 82 of his 90 opponents, he was also one of the most ferocious warriors the boxing world has ever witnessed. Black bottle or no block bottle, pound for pound Aaron Pryor is not qualified to mow Alexis Arguello's lawn.
I read it was cocaine with honey and orange juice. Definitely not speed, it would take much more time to react...
pryor was hooked on cocaine later in life so it HAD to be coke in the bottle:good i like the idea of shnaps and orange juice personally.
