    First off what is the definition of an ATG? For me it would be someone I could squeeze into a top 100 list and while I haven't done enough pre-1970 research to formulate a solid and precise list of 100 great fighters I could easily put Pryor among the best fighters I have seen so far. So therefore my opinion on the matter is wounded by that, but none the less here we go.

    For what he achieved, a long period of dominance at 140 one has got to give him props for that. None the less he found his way to the canvas more than enough times and his two biggest scalps are past primes legends Cervantes and Arguello. Still he beat them decisively and deserves some credit at least for that. (Can't really comment on the Arguello I bottle scandal, don't know enough surrounding the contents of the bottle.) However he did suffer one TKO loss against a man who wasn't on his level (even if he was past prime) you still have to wonder (like Tszyu with Phillips) why didn't he avenge that loss?

    As for not fighting the best of his era in Leonard, Duran, Benitez or Hearns. He can only be discredited for his attitude towards Duran and Leonard. I don't think he beats any of them by the way at 147. I'd perhaps give him his best chance against Benitez.

    Head to head against what the 140 division has had to offer I see him beating all but Chavez. He'd have trouble with Tszyu but I'd personally favour Pryor to take the fight to him, drag him in too deep and break Tzsyu mentally. Against some of the best talent around that has passed through the 140 division like de la Hoya, Mayweather, Whitaker etc he's going to lose more fantasy matchups for me.

    Despite the problems Pryor has regarding his legacy, yeah I'll consider him an ATG in line with my stated criteria. Hope that was thorough enough on what is a very interesting and good topic.

    No, he isn't an ATG. His resume does not merit it. I love him as a fighter though.

    His marquee win against Alexis is too tainted in my opinion to consider him ATG.

    :lol::lol: Dispicable post :patsch

    It just goes to show how desensitised the yanks are to drugs in sport.:shock:

    No fighters that have used banned substances whilst in the ring (Panama Lewis fighters were all at it) should ever be thought of as ATG/HOF :deal

    Even ignoring the drugs issue no he shouldnt be considered ATG, slightly overated + thin resume = NOT ATG

    Very good fighter all the same unfortunately he was Drug cheat :dead:dead
