How highly do you rate him. Personally i think he would have given anyone around his weight serious problems.

Pryor was fantastic. I'd rank him as an all-time great for his knockouts of Arguello (twice) and Alfredo Escalante.

He could throw punches in combination, and just keep coming.

An example of his demeanor came in the Escalante fight. He suffered a flash knockdown, stared down Escalante, and proceeded to knock Alfredo out quite early.

He would give any Jr. Welterweight/Welterweight problems, in my estimation.

Pretty highly, although SRL, Duran and Hearns beat him if he ever went to 147

Pryor repeatedly called out Leonard, Leonard did his best to ignore Pryor and the media concerning a fight with Pryor. There's a reason Leonard didn't want Pryor in the ring.

ye i agree that Leonard didnt want to fight Pryor, I think that it would have been a very entertaining fight and really it is a tragedy that it never happened.

Yeah because his style and skill was all wrong for leonard. The rumor is that Leonard also moved up in weight in the amateurs to aviod him in the olympic trials.

I dont think that just because the Hawk was persistently calling Sugar out is a reason to explain him beating him. Thats like saying just because Margarito persistently calls out PBF, PF would lose no? Anyway, its all conjecture, it never happened, but in my opinion, SRL would have got the decision, he could bang and box. Hearns would be too rangy if he chose to fight the right fight, and Durans bodywork would lead to wearing Pryor down, with a potential late tko....in my opinion anyway :D

Aaron Pryor could most deinitely box aswel and he couldn half fight, its one of those matchups would depend on so many intangibles such as the tactics used how the styles actually gel etc. I personally feel this is one you cannot predict an outcome, although im sure everyone will present a case for either man winning. Duran and Pryor would definitely have been barbaric to of the most intense fighters ever.

I agree mate :good But some of the intangibles go in SRL favour I think, such as Pryor having to move up for starters, not sure how that would effect him, would it zap his relentless pressure style, would he be as effective of taking shots from the bigger guys? But like you say, its hard to make an accurate decision, all great fighters (pryor, duran, srl, hearns ).

Ye that is probably the main intangible that could effect the fight adversely as Pryor would simply be outmuscled by the bigger guy however this may not neccessary happen and we would only know once the fight had started.ye it is a shame people of that claibre are not about today fighters seem to be made different these days maybe with a few exceptions

Thats an old myth. How many fights did Pryor have at welter while Leonard was champion? Hardly the actions of a man who was desperate to get Leonard in the ring.
