ABA Finals & Sturm/Zbik RbR!

Guess this puts Macklin in even better perspective. He ran Sturm close, but got stopped by Martinez. Levels, levels, levels. Now Zbik, who made Chavez look ponderous gets stopped by Sturm.

Formlines can be misleading, but pretty instructive here. Though I believe Chavez Jr has improved since that fight.

 

Does that make Macklin the 2nd best middleweight in the world? :think

I think it gives him a good claim to be the fourth best. He didn't actually beat Sturm and I think Chavez's win over Rubio gives him the edge, despite Matthew's brave loss to Sexy Sergio.

Really it shows he's one of the best at the weight. I wouldn't pick many of the others to beat him. I think he could beat Chavez or Sturm in a rematch.

Think Murray and Macklin took the jab away from him really. From the off the two of them were in his face and not letting him get any sort of time to get the jab set and going. Zbik was basically asking for the jab after the first few rounds no movement or anything going back. Reminded me of his fights before (Gevor who was the first to keep on him the full 12 and I still think he was won the fight more clearly than some say Mack or Murray did.) where the other fighter just showed up to eat sturms jab time and time again like Sato.

 

I know I was only messing around going on them formlines. I've always had Martinez at 1 & Sturm at 2

Rios fails to make weight again, comes in at 137 stripped. Gone of to try and get down to 135. He needs to move up, if he keeps trying to drain him self he will be knocked out soon.

 

You make a good point, Speak was just standing in jabbing range for a great deal of time and not letting his hands go. If you're standing in range and not throwing what do you expect to happen?

Like someone else alluded to, Macklin especially smothered the jab of Sturm - he would get in close and work and nullify the jab, if Sturm had better footwork he would've still been able to dictate the fight from the jab with Macklin, but didn't.

 

Rios is a spastic.

 

:deal it's clear for everybody to see that he should be at 140. It will be interesting to see if Abril has any more success in exploiting a drained Rios than Murray did. At least it adds a bit more spice to the fight.

 

I think Rios should be at Welter.
