Didn't he say "If I'm the poster boy for steroids, then steroids is going out of business"?

Sadly no. Closest thing I've seen recently was Terrence checking Porter's hooks with biceps stops.

They don't mention it as much.

Yep, but the problem also was that Toney didn’t even chew, he swallowed the McD’s whole. There was no natural metering of what went into his belly.

In line with his “old school” skills, Toney held to the antiquated belief that too much mastication would make you go blind.

Maybe James was the victim of an very life but heavily retained mis-read. On the other hand (or as the case maybe, both hands) James could never work out why his palms were so hairy.

Already said broadly but specifically Dempsey apparently chewed pine tar gum. Strangely, Jeffries chewed gum during his fight vs Johnson. Brutal as it sounds, Jeffries eventually had to lose the gum due to a badly lacerated mouth and blood filling in.

Norton was the first guy to regularly be hypnotized. A few guys afterward did as well, but it still seems to be rare.

Anyone remembers it? "Muscular skeleton suit" I never saw it since, so I guess it didn't catch on.

It's all fun and games until you see Shannon Briggs in a motor boat closing quickly as "lets go champ" grows louder in the distance

I agree about the water thing, too much slows you down/makes you feel sluggish

If only Wladmir had done more old school rowing training to develop his back muscles. Not only would he be able to evade the stalking of Briggs, he'd probably improve his octopus grabbing technique even more!

I remember reading stories of fighters like Harry Wills going on long arduous fasts from eating while in training. Fasts that may take several days. Meanwhile, Johnny Wilson had a secret to flush himself out during training. By drinking a glass of brine.
