Friday the first of March at Telford International Centre, headlining a show on Ch5.

At stake will be the vacant EBU super welterweight title.

Despite having several more losses (including a pair by stoppage), the Brummie has a 1½″ height advantage over his Togolese-German opponent and thrice as much professional experience.

Since their last defeats, Eggington is on a 2-0 (2) streak and Baraou on a 5-0 (3).

They have one common professional opponent:

    • Carlos Amado Molina Olvera - lost via unanimous decision to Baraou in 2019 and to Eggington in 2021.

I'm probably leaning towards a narrow points win for Abass Baraou but I'd love it if Eggington pulls off the surprise.

Don't know much about Baraou, but I'll always tune in to watch the Egg man fight.

Baraou likely tunes him up. Wide decision or TKO

One day all the wars Eggington's been in will catch up with him. It might be on Friday but whenever it is I hope he'll read the signs and get out of boxing for good.

Last time out, Sam was lined up as a big name stepping stone for Joe Pigford. We all saw what happened there. Seems to me that Baraou has been, like Pigford, pretty carefully nurtured.

As has been said said, on this thread and for a few years, one day it will all catch up with Eggington but if Friday is not that night then I expect him to win by late stoppage or by 3 or 4 rounds on the cards.

there’s a big difference between an inactive white collar brawler and a guy who went to the Olympics and has only lost a contentious split to Jack Culcay (who somehow is fighting for a world title soon)

this would be an impressive win for Sam tbh
