As someone pointed out during the RBR, maybe it's why he didn't fight any actual punchers until yesterday. Darren Barker called it on commentary: Galahad was going backwards in straight lines with his chin in the air, and so was open for the overhand right. Kiko landed it, and as long as he is in the rematch and able to get Galahad to retreat in a straight line with his chin in the air while putting himself in range, he can land it again.
Two great shots from Kiko but maybe it was somewhat weight related, because watching it back that first shot took everything from him, absolutely everything, there was zero recovery. That's rather disturbing, I have no issue with him hitting the canvas because it was a great shot but the fact he had over a minute to recover between rounds and still didn't have his legs when he came out is a serious worry.
Yeah Barker was bang on the money. Did you hear Hearn last night? He was saying that Galahad was trying all the tricks in the book, shoulders, elbows and even standing in Kikos foot. Kiko apparently said he liked the fact Galahad stood on his foot because it kept him in range.. very clever and interesting way of looking at it from Kiko.
Certainly preferable to the meek passivity that encourages fans to **** and moan about how so-and-so was doing this or that to so-and-so for months or even years after a given bout (while naturally turning a blind eye when their favorites employ some dark arts or make considerable strategic use of the clinch).
Wasn't even his chin, the first KD as the 5th wound down. That looping right clipped him on the nose and had Away looking drunk enough to fail a field sobriety test. Glass schnoz foremost. ...but yeah, that follow-up straight right dagger from Kiko to start the 6th put him right out. Safe to say the punch resistance overall is low-grade.
The minute in the corner was equally telling: KG was so out of it that he was completely unresponsive to whatever Dominic Ingle was telling him.
If that right hand hit his chin instead of square on the face he'd have been knocked out for a week Rarely do you see someone come out of the corner hurt just hold their feet unable to react to impeding doom You see how Fury and Wilder handled having no legs. Magical powers of uprightedness.
Unless any of the Ingle fighters has reflexes on the level of Roy Jones Jr or Muhammad Ali -- whereby they can get away with having their chin in the air as they move backwards in a straight line -- then they should probably consider tucking their chin and employing actual head movement. Or better yet, just don't move backwards in straight lines if they don't have the reflexes or the chin to get away with it.
