    Yeah, that was some SHATTERING of that fragile mandible wasn't it??

    Awad has to vault into the glass jaw top ten with that performance!!!!

    Poor punch resistance by the Kid. Great ring smarts by Kiko.

    This guy has a worse chin than Wilder! Clearly paper mache.

    Spot on, Ingle has to take some responsibility here, KG wasn't in any condition to continue.

    I actually think the referee should have taken a look at him between rounds, he was gone after the first knockdown.

    Kid congratulates Kiko, commits to putting his nose back to the grindstone and going again;

    The sport is going soft enough without fans doing the whole hand-wringing bit.

    I don't think Dom did anything wrong in sending him out, though his instructions were lacking. We've seen guys go back to their corners in similar states, come back out and work their way back into fights. Barry was looking him in the eye and nodding with a "yep" in response to the limited counsel he offered, his legs appeared to be back under him when he went out. He just met Kiko in center ring and froze in the path of that second right hand instead of getting into survival mode for a round. Even Kiko said he was surprised, didn't expect to finish him straight away.

    Inexperience of being in that position was a factor. How often does Galahad even take a flush shot, let alone get hurt, let alone get hurt that badly? He touched down momentarily when Jason Booth cracked him with a decent one almost ten years ago, but nothing else. He was alarmingly short of an understanding of how to respond to the situation.

    Well, it could be worse for Barry, he could be Josh Smelly. Now that was an embarrassing, hopeless, delusionally arrogant hypejob. If it's all over for Kid, career coffin nailed shut, cancelled, no hope for reprieve or redemption, at least he can say he got hands on British, European and World honors, while Smelly ponced around and posed (like more of a Naz wannabe than Kid has ever been) through a bunch of bouts with complete ham-and-eggers before almost losing to Ray "Not That One" Robinson and continuing to showboat in unwittingly hilarious fashion even while in the painful process of getting his head punched in by Ava. Kid did it minus the cringe showboating and the promotional fanfare and hoopla, too.

    Not sure why the decidedly jack average Smelly was ever touted as being particularly handsome, either. But then, assessing the physical charm of men isn't my forte.

    Speaking of prognoses from 2017, here's one (of sorts);
    I elected to bookmark it at the time, rather than respond, such was my jaded attitude to explaining why one more little jagoff bouncing around with his hands down pretending to be Roy (with only a tiny fraction of the talent) was going nowhere fast. I didn't care to bump it when the time came, but maybe some perspective is needed in the wake of Saturday's big upset. :lol: Smelly was quite obviously dire as prospects go, but he was getting plenty of love around here for a while.

    If I wasn't active here at the time of the Avanesyan bout,

    . Pretty sure I have my slip from the Ava beating around here somewhere, too. Ah, yes,

    . Thanks for the extra bucks, Josh.

    I won't put it 100% on the kid's shoulders, though — Adam Booth has to take his share of the credit for the absolute bust that is Smelly's professional career, providing yet more evidence of

    "I told Eddie Hearn I believe Josh Kelly is worth more, financially, as a pay-per-view fighter than David Haye."

    The Dark Fraud loves his flimflam, doesn't he?

    But, hey, maybe Josh Smelly is actually a nice enough kid and I shouldn't be such a *****. After all, I did once sit and watch that horrid, mouthy, arrogant Barry Awad take the time to counsel a bunch of truanting youths on a Sheffield tram to get back to school and stay out of trouble, for no other reason than to spread his mentor's gospel of social responsibility (which he credits with saving his own life from heading down a dead end).

    The Kid is a good kid. And a world class boxer (certainly by current standards) who can conceivably come again. We'll see.

    He did a great amir khan impression there.
    That was a proper horizontal nailed to the canvas knock out.

    Do we reckon he's done? At that level at least?

    All due respect to Kiko, but he's an old fart and never was some powerhouse. There would be far harder and more accurate punchers to reckon with on the road back to a championship.

    First of all: I thought Kiko Martinez was retired? :confused:

    Second: how Galahad got melted, I'm inclined to agree that his chin is not made of the sturdiest material.

    After the Frampton rematch he mostly kept a low profile in between his losses in bigger fights (Quigg, LSC, Warrington, GRJ, Barrett) and yet somehow did remain active the whole time...in fact, Galahad/Awad was his fourth opponent just since the start of the pandemic! Crazy schedule for his (ring, if not chronological) age.
