Mago isn't chinny. He has very poor defensive skills, and gets hit flush a lot.

But has decent power and good offensive skills. I like the way he puts his combinations together to finish his opponents off. Mago didn't start boxing until he was 23, so he'll never seem as fluid in his movements as those who have better muscle memory from boxing most of their lives.

I hear where you are coming from and can see why you might think that way. He isn't a 'body beautiful' guy as Larry Merchant used to say but he is a tough SOB much tougher than Arreola. He tends to go 'Rock'em Sock'em Robots' at times but he can take it and a lot of his opponents won't be able to. Sometimes being crude is a good thing. People keep talking about Pulev and others on here I have no doubt Mago would wreck Pulev's face.

Fine, I actually do agree with that. It's less a matter of his chin being poor as being inadequate for how bad his defense is. You can't get away with defense that porous unless your chin is cast-iron and his isn't.

Power yes. Offensive skills, eh. His combinations don't impress me as much as those of Andy Ruiz Jr., and it's more than just the huge speed differential.

Fair enough. I'm not holding it again him or meaning to suggest he isn't a willing learner trying his best (unlike Arreola) - but simply think he is another guy that doesn't bring all that much beyond his brute power. It is what it is.

You may be right about that, and I'm a Pulev supporter and rate him above Mago in general (styles make fights).

Seeing how much stupid nonsense he got hit with by the likes of Ustinov - no less slow and probably not as powerful as Mago - yeah, there is a chance that's a great match-up for Abdusallamov to smash his way to an upset.

That 42 y.o. McCline who dropped Mago with 1 punch lost earlier in 2012 to Harold Sconiers who dropped Wilder.

  7. You think that McCline has no power? That guy has a awesome punch if he lands and Mago ran into his right hand .. but wasn't even hurt .. now imagine what McCline would do to Wilder if he lands ..

Victor Bisbal is a fat heavyweight with the most basic of movement and general boxing skill.

Now keep in mind that he literally swept all the rounds in the Mago fight until he gassed. He could not miss and Mago's face was being busted up pretty good.

Mago showed nothing in that fight except for grit and power.

Not going to get it done against the better heavies out there.

I dont use the word hater to much, because its a very radical word. But in your case... It seems, you really dont like Mago. You would see him lose even against a 0-50 Journeyman. :hi:

IB has had a consistent stance on Mago for a very, very long time. He's not wrong either.

    Screw.

Perez isn't short of power himself in fairness, in his last fight with Walker he damaged his hand very early on.

Perez is a lazy SOB, but the bigger the challenge the more prepared he will be.

He is handled by a guy in Ireland with bags of cash, the guy built a purpose built complex, house, gym, pool, basically anything Perez (and 2 other Cuban prospects need). He also pays for world class sparring, a veritable whose who of boxing has sparred with Perez and gone away impressed.

The guys is gifted but undeniably lazy.

If he is interested he easily decisions Abdusalamov

I'll say this for Perez, he has remarkable fat speed.
