It seems suspect. I've noticed his questionable punch resistance in his fight against former LHW Pedro Rodriguez - Mago was hurt in the 1st round, but came back and KO'd his opponent who looked like he has extra 100 lbs of lard (seriously, Rodrigues fought as a middleweight in the amateurs). Today he was knocked down by the first right hand which 42-y.o. McCline landed. You can say McCline has power but seriously since his comeback Jameel has knocked down only 2 fighters - McCinney (28-54-1) and Mago. Szpilka, Livin Castillo and Sconiers don't have granite chins but McCline coudn't KD them. We have yet to see Abdulsalamov to face really dangerous opponent, but one thing is quite obvious - his chin isn't that good, as well as his defense.
His chin is good against cans because he just takes all their power punches with his poor defense but his chin is not solely good enough against the heavier punches to just eat their punches and keep going forward. His chin isn't suspect imo it's his defense which is the culprit, he stands in the pocket and waits for the punches to hit him. He got up and was fine right away from the mccline knockdown which makes me think he was off balance and overpowered to the ground rather than rocked from the punch.
Not suspect in the slightest. Typical ESB chin-sensationalistic nonsense. McCline had 5 mins to give it his all before he'd gas and decline whereas Mago's far too much of a beast for anyone to allow him to get rounds under his belt, therefore he lets people hit him.. gotta get experience somehow! McCline vs Maxine Charr & Klit vs. Magomaniac would have been much more interesting!
Adbus defense is suspect, your always playing a dangerous game waiting for the big punches to arrive. Especially with a big dude like Mc Cline, who can crack.
Szpilka has a iron cheen, he took McCline's shot CLEAN on the CHEEN and broke his chin, but did not go down. I saw the fight live. Also McCline has a SOLID CHEEN, fight was fixed.
This content is protected doubtful the punch hit him square in the lower part of the face with explosion and weight behind it. Mccline fell wierd on his knee possibly injured it that's why he couldn't get up in time. Take into account how big he is and the weight of him colliding with the punch and the awkward stance when it hit, makes sense that he went down.
Mago got dropped hard but he was fully recovered when he got up and started stalking Mccline right away. He also broke his rib a few days before the fight but didn't want to pull out.
Nothing wrong with Mago's chin. He was not hurt at all. Just more of a balance shot. He got up and took care of his job. I think Mago is a tuff guy. He does not have all the best skill but he does have power. This fight showed he has heart. Had that been Wlad he would have freaked out and lost.
You know damn well the bell saved Wlad on that last knock down. Had there been more time left in the round Peter would have knocked Wlad the **** out.
I like Abdu and I've been following him, but that was a strange punch that KO'd McCline. Was it legit? Vysotsky - Do you have any link to that alleged broken rib? Where did you hear that?
Nathan Lewkowicz who i assume is the brother of Abdusalamov's promoter Sampson Lewkowicz tweeted it post fight This content is protected "Mago" Magomed Abdulsalamov was fighting with a broken rib today and still won by KO. He broke it earlier this week, didn't want to pull out http://twitter.com/Nlewkow1
I rewatched it earlier and if you look at the fight after the knockdown Mago's defense when he is paying attention isn't terrible. He does have one slipping, blocking, parrying and being aware of range are all things he's okay at.
