http://media.gettyimages.com/photos...champion-giving-abe-simon-picture-id469308155 What is up with this guy? He is massive. Look at his fists. I don't know much about him. I remember reading that Johnson helped train him for Louis.
Another poster on here mentioned a few years ago that Abe Simon was born with pituitary giant syndrome which was responsible for some of his large and disproprotionate features. But I don't know if this was ever verified. He certainly was an intimidating specimen.. a large muscular frame with big hands, wide girth and a very rugged face.. boxrec ( when I last checked ) had him listed at 6'4" and at times weighing as much as 250 lbs
Simon was big, slow and powerful. Pretty durable as well. But next to no defense. One interesting side note, Simon was Jewish. When he fought Louis for his title, many Jews were going for Louis as his victory over Max Scheming meant the world for them. The first fight with Louis was also boxing last scheduled 20 round match.
He kinda reminds me of that wrestle. Andre the giant? I believe he suffered the same syndrome as abe.

What a great interview that was!! Abe sounded like a very classy and intelligent guy. He seems to really rate Roscoe Toles and Lem Franklin. Just wish there was more on those two.
Yea probably the strongest guys ever to step in a ring... They probably had acromegaly... They would be monsters today with weight training, nutrition, juice... Wlad and Joshua would look skinny and weak next to them
That he was. A pity he did not live long, he could have been a media guy for boxing if he wanted too.
Abe Simon wrote a impressive article for Esquire Magazine Feb 43 . This content is protected The Big Man http://easthamptonstar.com/opinion/20161229/big-man-jeffrey-sussman
With the physique and facial features Abe had, i have a feeling he was not challenged too often to a street fight, look up tank in dictionary and likely find pic of Abe or Primo C.
Check out those gloves. They look like MMA gloves. I haven't seen any like them outside of old school TMA's like aikido. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/dd/fb/37/ddfb37fdfe03577d6756f6897c0e74f6.jpg I have never seen them in a picture that old, unless eastern martial arts we involved. Cool stuff as always Rez.
