He needs to be fired by Gassiev and Golovkin. 2 undefeated fighters, one common bond: their coach. He gave some of the worst instructions I've ever heard, not only to Gassiev when he fought Usyk, but last night as well. "Do you want me to stop the fight"? "Stay Busy" WTF is that kind of advice? GGG and Gassiev have been undefeated this long based on their OWN merits alone. now they need to go to their next phase of their career and get a coach that actually can take them to the next level.

At the elite level, boxers shouldn't need corner advice. They are already just fighting on instinct.

Yes, they need advice to keep them on point so to speak, but otherwise yeah they know what to do.

At this point I am not sure of the benefit of Sanchez to GGG

I'll be honest I thought Golovkin looked very good last night and think he's stagnated over the past 2/3 years with Abel, last night he got back to basics.

Absolutely GGG was fighting on instinct the last few rounds... the language barrier was too.. You could tell he was just nodding in agreement with Sanchez, not even understanding what he was saying (not that he was saying anything significant).

If boxers shouldn't need corner advice, then why do they pay their trainers 10% of the purse? when u r earning millions $$$ that 10% is a outrageous amount of money...

I disagree. GGG simply got old over night. Abel told GGG what to do, but GGG's body just couldn't reliever anymore. GGG defense and movement was a bit crude when he turned pro, but Abel polished it up and even helped GGG become a more effective puncher. GGG would be a fool to dump Abel.

On the other hand Gassiev was never that good to begin with. While GGG was an elite talent Gassiev isn't and never will be. Gassiev's a good puncher and has a good chin, but he's one dimensional and besides an old Lebdev had fought and beat nobody. He's completely useless against a fighter that can move and put punches together. Fighters of Gassiev's caliber aren't hard to come by, so I doubt Abel loses any sleep over Gassiev getting a new trainer.

I am no Sanchez fan but you can check my post history if you like.

I claimed Sanchez was going to be the down fall of Gassiev and then completely changed my tune after the Dorticos fight.

Sanchez was the mastermind behind that win. The Usyk fight was just a great fighter beating a very good fighter.

Can't blame the trainer when you are up against that kind of talent.

GGG I am not so sure tbh. I do feel like he regressed under Sanchez but at the same time I can't blame him for this fight.

He was telling GGG to bring the fight and GGG just didn't have the heart to bring it.

For Gassiev it would be definitely a thing to consider, but for Golovkin... I guess it's too late for him at this stage to change trainers.

Also, it seems like a good available professional boxing trainer is not that easy to find at all.

Yep! It was obvious from Abel's instruction he wanted Golovkin to stand his ground and go to War with Canelo, but instead Golovkin retreated most of the night.
It was obvious to me Golovkin didn't like the taste of Canelo's accurate counters and decided against standing his ground and fight off the backfoot.

Yes they do. The **** are you talking about?
It's not like their instincts are always right. You need someone to make sure that you are performing to the best of your ability.
Sometimes(quite often tbh) adjustments have to be made.
This is something that is done really well in MMA.

Good video on what a great cornerman should be able to do.

People do realise that a coach does more than just speak in a corner between rounds. There is an eight to twelve week training camp before the fight and they also take on a lot of managerial and press roles to relieve the fighters from having to do it all.

No corner advice would have changed the fight tbf, they were fighting their own fight and it would have played out the same anyway.

I had it 116-112 for Golovkin but I agree with you. The only way Golovkin will ever get a win over Alvarez is if he knocks him out. Canelo gets the nod on any close round. Some judges will even score rounds for him when he clearly lost the round. Look at some of the scorecards for his fights vs. Lara, Mayweather, Cotto, Golovkin x2.

Would be good to attract Papachenko keeping Abel and work on the strategy for 3d fight. Pretty sure they can work out a great strategy for GGG.

I want also to note that GGG just decided to win Alvarez on class and to outpoint him decisively and this was main mistake. During round 12 he was sure that he did enough to secure win over Canelo and was playing safe. The whole idea to outpoint Canelo was a mistake and I guess if 3d fight happens GGG will go for knockout.

OR, which is the case, Golovkin's best days are far past him and now fights much more conservatively with an eye on his tank to go 12 rounds if needed.
