Pressure style looks spectacular against lower level opposition but does not work well against bigger and higher level opposition. The boxer puncher style may not look as good, but it's more effective against higher level opposition. What Golovkin needed was the honing of his boxing, but Abel just had him practice hard punches on the mitts. Basically milking Golovkin's physical gifts without adding anything to his game.
The "style" Abel taught him only works against bums. No wonder GGG abandoned as soon as he fought a better opponent.
Nobody is turning on him except casuals. Only casuals held Abel in a high regard. Fans with knowledge knew that Abel was a clown all along who damaged Golovkin's reputation with his stupid mouth.
Interesting you say that because it is a consensus that Abel Sanchez made GGG into the star he is today. Without the Mexican coach the Mexican fan base would not have bought into the Mexican style GGG was selling.
I was talking about his qualities as a coach. Maybe Abel helped GGG get some fans... Many haters as well.
I always criticized him, he doesn't give a **** about his fighters and trolls them once he abandons them. He is all about the money.
