They called G P4P too! Crawford unified and got belts in several divisions. So resumes being equally bad, as far as P4P goes, one must place Crawford above G.

He was five times overpaid it appears.

LOL at Sanchez - should be grateful he rode the gravy train as long as he did.

Makes no sense - if that occurred how would that be Golovokin's fault? Since when do pro fighters handle financials such as writing out the checks for sparring partners? That is what you have management for.

True or not, Abel's statements are very unprofessional. Top fighters will be very hesitant working with him in the future. He can start calling you all kinds of names in public the moment you split up over a financial disagreement. "We couldn't agree on the $$ so we parted ways" This was what he was supposed to say. These rants he spit out he could just tell them to his best friend over a heavy drinking session, not to a reporter. AFAIC Abel's a sore loser.

Haven't read through all the pages but I think this is what happened.

Abel must have been getting 10% for Gennady's previous purses so for the first Canelo fight Abel must have got $300K and for the second a cool half mil. A $100M six-fight deal would amount to roughly $16M per fight for Gennady...that's a whopping $1.6M cut for Abel per :eeek:

I could be wrong but I think even Manny had to peg Roach's cut at $1M, and Manny is a real generous guy.

I would certainly rate Steward above Sanchez in terms of being a trainer. Not trying to demean Abel, but if Manny Steward was fine getting paid a flat rate training and doing cornerwork for the heavyweight champ, I don't see how Abel would not be fine with a similar arrangement for a first-ballot HoF middleweight.

If GGG has a 6 fight deal for 100mil, say that's roughly 17mil per fight. Instead of getting 1.7mil as his trainer, he was being offer 1/5th of that, so circa 280K.

Would be interesting to see what he was getting before. Seems a bit low to me in fairness.

I think a flat fee of $1mil per fight is about fair.

What a joke. A trainer getting a million per fight is far from fair. You must be terrible in business if you think that's fair.

Like I've said, high earning boxers don't pay their trainers 10%. Not even close. They don't pay by percentage, they usually pay a flat rate, which is usually less than 500k. If a trainer gets $200k per fight, they've hit the lottery.
