Boxers who strike it rich usually pay their long-term trainer a bit more than they used to. A mil is probably far too much!

Mexican style my ass. The great Mexican fighters took on all comers and never ducked anyone. That's how they established a respectful name in the sport. Golovkin did nothing but fight tomato cans. The first time he stepped up, and against a smaller opponent(A Mexican, ironically) who literally gave him a payday for free, he was stiffed out like a tree in the first fight and got dominated in the rematch. Exchanging blows with bums isn't "Mexican style".

P.S. @IsaL, this post isn't directed at you, I can clearly see you were mocking the morons who consider Golovkin "Mexican style".

    100% this, no doubt.

Able took one look at a guy that was 345-5 as an amateur (G at worlds, S at olympics), knew his rep on the German pro circuit and built a blueprint on this pedigree to become an absolute star in the professional ranks. GGG was smart enough to buy into it body and soul.

I always imagine Abel and GGG's first meeting going like this:

Except in this version Maximus turned into Nero.

I'll never understand the notion behind thinking a person doesnt deserve a large portion of the money they generate.

Usually, athletes get paid what they do due to projections on the amount of money they will generate for the entities 'above' them (team/networks/promoters/ect) or to gain leverage for those entities.

How are they not entitled to a large chunk of that? If they arent entitled to that... who is?

Just because elite level athletes get paid astronomically more than the vast majority of the more meaningful jobs that are out there doesnt make it bull****. Its based on economics.

And what is it to you or anyone else?

Thats the other thing I dont get.

As if G making 100 million is taking food off your plate, or a brain surgeons plate. Them making that much affects you or the people whose salary youre comparing them to, to a miniscule degree (only as it relates to the prices you pay to consume that sport).

So you'd impose a salary cap... preventing athletes from getting higher percentages of their earnings... for what... the 'moral satisfaction' of knowing they now dont earn quite as much more as everyone else, though still earning more?

    Idk...

I'll spin that right back at you, do you really think GGG continuing to give Abel the same percentage is "taking food off GGG's table", leaving the poor little baby only getting 5 or 6 million instead of 10?

Point is he's goddamn lucky the system is set up that way, and should be nothing but grateful and willing to spread the wealth among the members of his team who carried him there. He isn't "entitled" to millions for pumping his arms for thirty minutes, just because greedy network execs are willing to assign that value arbitrarily for their own benefit..

You know it's none of your business or right to dictate how someone spends their money.

You money focused posters need to get a grip or that is loosen said grip. Its not your money nor your business. You wanna soapbox, what about the crazy discrepancies in pay between CEO and their workers. The 1% of America owns 95% of all the wealth. Why not ***** about that? Or complain about Bryce Harper's $334 million deal? Did you know over the past weeks 8 MLB contracts signed at over $1.8 BILLION? **** me!

Also, coaches and trainers get fired over terrible losses. That is expected in sports. Abel led with a crap gameplan two times and did not account for the corruption the second time around. Gameplan was to do nothing different. The writing was on the wall.

Yeah, so? What makes you think I'm not in full agreement with you on those issues? And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China, or with Golovkin freezing out a guy who is largely responsible for him reaching the platform that allowed him to command such a salary?

If you want to say that doing so is his prerogative legally (if not ethically) - well, alright, but calling him a dick for it also happens to be my prerogative. And you're not going to change my opinion, so ...what are you - and @kirk wasting your breath on, exactly? Please feel free to not think you're entitled to say what anyone has the "right" to comment on, either of you. Thx. ;)

I think it's none of your business. You're only acting all aggro cuz the whiner Abel cried to the media. That is a biatch move imo. One who cries to the media to fight their battles, does he expect GGG to cave and pay him what he thinks he's worth?

This is really separating the objective people (like yours truly, who got accused countless times by whiny Canelo huggers of being a blind GGG fanboy) from the actual blind GGG fanboy/apologists. :deal:

I think what I think is none of your business. And that GGG's the biatch. So...there you go. You think what you think and what I think. YAY! Everybody has an opinion and an asshole.
