Abel Sanchez: Charlo is nothing to me

If Charlo is mandatory then if Golovkin wants to keep his belt surely he has to face his mando. If he wants to drop his belt then thats his choice although a shame. Unless the unification with BJS over rules it in which case i wouldnt care i would rather have a unification.

 

Charlo is nothing to Canelo, Saunders or Jacobs right now which are all FAR bigger fights in the context of the MW division. Biased Dontae trying to pimp Charlo and didn't get the answer he wanted from Sanchez.

 

Yeah I suppose everything else should freeze over so Golovkin/Charlo can happen - That fight of course is bigger than Canelo/Golovkin II, Saunders or Jacobs II. They let Wilder and Stevenson get away with soft touches and not facing their mandatories - there shouldn't be a problem especially if Golovkin is engaging in mega fights that earn them top dollar.

 

Hopefully we see a undisputed middleweight champion in 2018 and hopefully that man is Gennady Golovkin.

GGG fought into Mandatory for Sturm, Martinez/JCCJr, Cotto, Geale and subsequently Barker, and finally Alvarez.
GGG was ducked for several years by multiple fighters, multiple belts.
Mallow has only one MW fight vs Heiland(who'd been waiting more than a yr while the WBC allowed the GGG/Nelo drama to go on).

As for better position for his age... yeah, but because he's an American with a popular platform and coming into the division having already made his name at LMW.

GGG will be getting these next two defenses, become undisputed, then retire rich and a legend, or move UP TO SMW.

He doesn't need Mallow.
Sucks for JC but is probably best for him.
He'll become a titlist w/o the risk of getting his head yanked from his body

Its true that Sturm ducked GGG buts its also true that there wasn't a high demand for the fight , plus the money wasn't there to warrant taking on such a danger man. Its like saying Calzaghe ducked Froch. There really was nothing to duck. Froch and GGG didn't have the profile to get the fight at the time even though they still would have been worthy fights to make.
And really who gives a rats ass about being ducked by Sturm. Sturm turned down millions to face King Arthur.
Pavlik and Arthur suffered far more high profile ducks from Sturm yet you don't here people giving them credit for it.

GGG being avoided like the plague is half myth half legend. Go back and look at where this guy was fighting..Hotel lobbies , ice skating rings etc.. He was managed by K2 and how many Klitschko undercards was he on? Zero.

 

Rather GGG fights Charlo if he stays at MW than rematch Jacobs, but yeah, all have a better claim even without the mandate
