Masterful tactics by Sanchez. I was hating on Gassiev after 4 rounds I had Dorticos up 4-0 (2 clear and 2 close), but Gassiev started to chip away and I gave him 6 of the next 7.

Gassiev was super composed and showed versatility and was totally feeding off Sanchez's wisdom. I mean I actually think the tactics were so bang on he would win that fight 10/10 and half those times would be much easier.

I don't usually give trainers much credit (and with Sanchez and GGG I have always claimed he made him go backwards) but I think Sanchez should legit get a lot of credit for this fight.

If Gassiev tried to pressure Dorticos from the start then Dorticos would have had a chance. Fighting off the back foot and tiring Dorticos out took all of threat away.

I actually said before this tournament that Sanchez was the weak link, and that Gassiev would be better off without him. I admit I got that one wrong but how wrong will I be?

    Can Sanchez mastermind WBSS glory?

Or will he be too busy with his pet and the million dollar pay days???

I have a hunch Abel Sanchez has already studied Usyk assiduously and has a pretty good Plan A for Gassiev to execute.

Abel is good trainer......................but Lomachenko, Sr. will be training Usyk. This will be a very difficult fight, but Usyk has a great defense, esp. when he needs it and a really good chin, I think Usyk will win by decision, but it will be a very hard fought fight! In spite of that, USTV will not allow the fight to be shown in America...............no Eastern Europeans allowed..................shame of those idiots!

the only way Usyk can win is if Sanchez neglects Gassiev? am i misunderstanding or is that the gist of this thread?

    No not at all.

I do think Gassiev needs Sanchez to mastermind the perfect game plan to win.

I don't even know if that will get them the W.

Gassiev has his fight a week after GGG and I do think GGG will be Abels priority.

That will be a huge disadvantage imo

wasn't aware of the timing. yeah, Golovkin will probably be a priority. i am sure both will get plenty of training though. i would imagine the rest of his stable will fall back on a secondary trainer.
