There was a thread here about this a while back, possibly by IB. I think Abel was exaggerating here, trying to further build up GGG's stock. If he truly truly hit THAT hard, Rosado would have gone down, Stevens would have stayed down from that first KD, Murray would not have made it to 11 etc etc. The guy clearly has power , more so than many other fighters, but it's clearly not heavyweight level power.

There's also legions of fans who are frustrated and who want him to be challenged, but who are also aware of the circumstances involved.

This is where the hate has derived from.

There's many people who are desperate for him to lose due to statements like this one.

    It's a shame.

you can create your own circumstances and forge your own legacy if you take the neccessary steps....if you cant get the exact fights you want you can still get something good....something challenging....

every other fighter in the world can get em....even kovalev, who has the same type of rep as lil g, can get them....you guys cant explain that other than "luck" ..."oh hes just lucky hopkins and pascal are warriors"......

lil g sits back and takes garbage if he cant get what he wants...hes content with that.....t.hats why hes hated on

    Abel's not going anywhere.

Why can't you just laugh off his comments and continue to support GG?

    That's what I do.

I also ridicule the deluded section of GG's fan base, even though I'm a fan myself.

    It's silly.

This is what's happened with Shock. Abel's comments and the deluded section of his fan base have made him hate GG. He's admitted that. It's such a shame. If I was younger, I may have gone the same way. But I'm finally growing up now at 36.

Some of his fans are absolute nuts. I've been told numerous times that prime versions of Marvin, Roy and Toney wouldn't have made it past the 4th round. :nut

You can either hate GG and want him to get knocked out, or you can laugh at the clowns and find more educated fans to debate with.

It's a definite sign of immaturity, that's for sure. When I was younger, I was the same. Thankfully I grew out of that pretty quickly. C0ckmaster should outgrow this behavior when he hits ****rty.

hold up though...ive never said i wanted him to get knocked out...or lose....thats never been the point or the end game

i just want him challenged...and i understand your point about circumstance...but you refuse to acknowledge mine....you cant create your own circumstances and get fights...other challenges even if they arent the ones you want....lil g just sits back and takes s****s if he doesnt get exactly what he wants.....

like ive said..kovalev, with a similar rep, has no prob getting fights....hes just as feared and devestating...but he gets fights...lil g could get meaningful fights that would prove something if he wanted...it would be even easier for lil g because he could easily pick from 154-168 and get good fights..kovalev is kinda limited

all i want is for him to challenge himself..i want others to demand it they way they demanded it of others....i want him to take tough fights...if he got through a good/tough resume and was still unbeaten and knocking guys out? heck id hail him too! but theres nothing even close to that happening

he can either sit back and accept his fate....and accept certain guys giving him the runaround...or he can go out and make tough fights...heck he prob gets as much credit, probably more, beating lara degale and dirrell as he would beating saunders and jacobs

there are tough fights out there for him to try and get....hiding behind some dream of unifying to me is garbage...its been done....we already know hes the best mw

GG is in a tough predicament.

If you were objective, you'd appreciate that.

    He clearly isn't content.

He has goals at MW, but he can't get the other champs to face him.

The other thing is, he's not a huge MW, and SMW isn't thriving.

"he has goals at mw but he cant get the other champs to face him"

ok...hes 34....if he doesnt get the hint then he should move on....smw doesnt have to be thriving....but theres a few names there enough to make it interesting....degale, jack, dirrell and zurdo all get him as much credit as jacobs and saunders...easily....add lara to that....

theres a nice group to go get one of them....in lieu of saunders and jacobs....but as usual hed rather defend an ibf belt...that he doesnt need for anything other than his "dream" that he hasnt achieved at age 34

    You've made some fair points.

I want to see him challenged.

Do you seriously think I rub my hands together in excitement when it's announced that he's fighting a guy like Wade?

    It's incredibly frustrating.

As boxing fans, we want to see the best fight the best. But we have to look from his perspective and try and put ourselves in his shoes. He's not a huge MW, it's a prestigious division, and he has dreams and aspirations that we have to respect.

I'm desperate for him to move up. But if you were in his shoes now, would you honestly give up your belts and move up when you're so close to achieving your goal? Boxing is defined by levels and the timing of the fights. The timing has to be right. He's not going to move from MW, unless there's an opportunity that he can't turn down.

Again, a DeGale fight isn't there for him at this point. You're simplifying things. And it's easy for you to say he's hiding behind a dream that's garbage. James DeGale has the exact same dream at SMW. Who are we to question that? Look how big DeGale is. He could move up to LHW in the morning. But who are we to say: "Why is he pursuing Jack, when Ward, Kovalev, Stevenson and Beterviev are at LHW?"

How can you say GG can easily pick fights between 154-168?

    That's absolutely laughable.

Boxing is a ruthless business and there's many obstacles to overcome for a big fight to take place.

Hopefully, he'll have defining fights before he retires. And when he's retired is the time to objectively an*lyse his career.
