Your guy is getting killed and instead of a plan b or any good advice you just ask him "why aren't your throwing more punches?"
Then why did he win Trainer of the Year 2015 or something and huys cheered him up? Damn fools are riding so much GGG sack that everyone around him wins by osmosis. Abels fighters are already trained and he just takes credit if they win. I knew he was full of it when I started seeing Golovkin get hit by uppercuts with no change in defense from the Monroe fight on up. Fans of his were saying dumb stuff like, "GGG likes to get hit in the face", WTF?!
I was planning on making a thread about it too. He failed his fighters in their most important moments.
If your guy can’t pull the trigger, then that’s exactly what you say. It’s a fight, no time to give lessons. He knows what his guy can do, and he is not doing it.
This. Abel is an excellent coach, but a coach can only do so much. If the fighter refuses to go out and get the job done you can't blame the coach for that. GGG at least has the excuse that he's old, but Gassiev seems mentally challenged. Abel gave Gassiev the correct instructions and the few times Gassiev followed instructions he managed to time Usyk, but after timing Usyk Gassiev went back to not following instructions. The Lebdev fight exposed Gassiev as being one dimensional and the Dorticos fight showed that he isn't a very smart fighter. Abel had to tell Gassiev too many times to catch Dorticos coming in and not to trade with him, since Dorticos has a dumb habit walking forward with his hands down. When Gassiev did what Abel told him Gassiev dropped Dorticos like a sack of potatoes.
Oh for **** sake. Is this going to be a thing every time an Eastern Euro fighter loses a fight? It can't possibly be the fighter's responsibility, so we blame the coach? When Loma, Bivol, or Usyk eventually lose, are we going to hear about how incompetent their coaches are?
I think he is a fine coach, his fighters wouldnt be in the positions theyre in if he wasn't. He is a bad cornerman.
WTF can Sanchez do if his Boxer would rather be somewhere else?? Martin needs to sit down and think real hard about whether he wants to carry on fighting, he was far to happy after losing last night imo
He has one style. Every time his guy gets in there with the best they lose. He is a good trainer but just isn’t versatile enough.
Man, I cant stand sánchez, god knows it, but I wouldnt say he's a bad trainer. This comment is unfortunate though, a good trainer should know why his fighter is not throwing punches. But a bad moment doesnt make you a bad trainer. And I hate this dude, I think he's a big troll, but.... "bad trainer" is a bit too much imho.
Chudinov also started to train with Sanchez, and became a terrible boxer to what he was before that.Gassiev was supertalant in his teen years, with very good technique, variety.i'm not sure if he is going in the right direction with Sanchez, looked like he lost that variety.
In the second Canelo fight his advice to GGG was crap. Plus there was no actual advice on how to do it.
