I never used to like Sanchez but he has proven himself to be a top trainer with Golovkin & Gassiev. He has a good set up there in Big Bear.
I always thought he was overrated because GGG was already the real deal before he started with him. The way he masterminded Gassiev's tactics in the Dorticos fight was impressive I hope he can conjure up something special for the Usyk fight, if Gassiev wins then Sanchez should be trainer of the year IMO
Nope he’s not he’s a good trainer but he has ****ing GGG who is like Floyd can fight because it comes naturally to him. It’s like the Mayweathers I respect what they did but come on it’s floyd
He is perfect for a certain type of fighter, guys with big power and an aggressive, pressuring style. I personally think Derrick James could be the best trainer atm and I also like Rozier for his detailed instructions. Virgil and Abel are the best older trainers.
I believe Felix Verdejo and not that he’s a big name compare to the others but to ones that know boxing he’s known
Now Carlos Cuadras is a good boy too. He is getting into Big Bear shape and will be fighting on the undercard of Superfly 2 in three weeks.
Abel Sanchez is one of the best trainers training today......................Papa Lomachenko is also a great trainer............
I remember going up to Big Bear years ago to watch Shane Mosley train. At that time, there was no "boxing" gym; it was a regular fitness gym with a small, ground level ring in the corner and a heavy bag and speed bag hanging along a side wall. Shane was being trained by John David Jackson and he was thinking about a comeback. When Shane was finished, Jackson sparred several rounds. While that was going on, Abel Sanchez and Fran's Botha arrived. Since the ring was occupied they did their mitt work on the floor, using an area about 6 feet by 8 feet. Before that the Ruelas brothers trained up there. The 7-11 in the area was plastered with autographed pictures.
