Lara has called out GGGollum before he's willing to face him. The only thing legitimate about Geale was the pasting he got from GGGolum. He lost to Barker ffs.

the same Barker was giving Martinez fits before the knockout

I'm sure GGG would be more than happy to face Lara, but why didn't team Lara send an offer to fight GGG? calling his name out in front of a camera is not enough to make a fight

Macklin gave Sergio fits, Murray got robbed, just about everyone gave Sergio fits. Geale lost to Mundine ffs!

styles make fights, have you not heard this term before?

anyway, you ignored the second part of my response. why didn't team Lara send anything resembling an offer to K2 for a fight with GGG? calling out via media will only get you so far, you need an actual contract or even an offer to actually make a fight

GGG is one of my favourite boxers at the minute bar none, but that is a disrespectful statement

I like GGG as much as the next guy, but no. There are guys who are still active that were insurmountably greater than he is like Hopkins, Jones and Toney. And I don't even need to mention Hearns or Hagler.

    Yeah absolutely

Even if Golovkin is better than all of these guys, hes gonna have to prove it.

You can't just crown him because he looks like a beast.

Btw, I do think he has exceptional talent and if he keeps dominating for years then who knows.

But as of now, its ridiculous to say hes better than previous greats.

Read the thread title dip****. He is a great boxer, but his legacy so far at 160 doesn't come close to measuring up.

Exactly, I have very little doubt he's gonna become a legend at 160, but its way too early to be saying stuff like he's 2nd best of all time.

ability wise, I think he arguably could have been.

The trouble is, which isn't to dissimilar to klitscho, his record on paper may look brilliant with a number of defences and wins etc, however there's always going to be an argument on the level of competition he faced. With no other decent middleweights around he may not get the opportunity to prove how good he actually is.

When someone uses the term "greatest" I tend to think they're talking about one's legacy.

That's good! I'll be focusing on him and Murray too, but this particular thread is about Sanchez implying that GGG is better than every middleweight in history other than SRR so people are talking about him compared to the greats. There are active threads discussing GGG vs Murray that you can go to where you don't have to see them compared to Hopkins or SRR.
