    Perez opens the round quite well on a less active Ioka and keeps the momentum he established in the first half. Ioka comes on in the second half when he has Josber pressed by the ropes, unloading some vicious salvoes to the body. Perez finished the round strongly with a number of one twos landed. Perez takes this one.

    Pérez is carrying his left hand low on the outside, flicking up backhanded jabs as he circles wide, then swooping in with wild right hands, aimed at the top of Ioka's head mostly but sometimes scoring as rabbit punches when Ioka dips forward to work the body. BIG body combo by Ioka has Pérez hurt on the ropes. Pérez fights his way off, hard weird-looking uppercut on the face of Ioka, thrown with his arm rotated the wrong way.

    Perez doing a good job outboxing him off the backfoot, but got overeager and walked into a vicious hook that dropped him. Got put down again seconds later.

    Pérez is tossing out jabs, palm facing out from his inner thigh to parallel with the floor. He's on his bike this round, not engaging Ioka. In the blink of an eye, a rising right hand on the left eye and sustained body assault from Ioka drops Pérez. He beats the count but is dropped moments later by a big jack in the box swat. Saved by the bell.

    Perez has found a rhythm while boxing on the outside. His one two is having a lot of success and Ioka is content to bide his time between assaults he unleashes on the ropes. Ioka then unloads more freely, putting together a lovely combination to body and head which has Josber down, a follow up to the knockdown plants Josber on his back in the corner with the bell saving him.
    Ioka 10-7.

    Ioka shredding Pérez now with hard rights, repeatedly. Pérez circling away clockwise, attempting to walk Ioka onto a big counter can-opener right. Ioka keeps drilling him with pinpoint body and head shots but the ref warns him for going low. Pérez is pushing off with a jab against Ioka's gloves and forehead to buy himself room. BIG combo by Ioka, hook on the body then right hand and hook up top.

    Perez is gamely trying to stay in this fight and is taking a shellacking like a man but Ioka hurts him badly to the body late in the round and lands numerous sweeping head shots. This has been quite brutal for poor Josber.

    A pattern of Josber gamely surviving is established but the inevitable is coming and we all know it if it keeps like this. A right hand crushes Josber along the ropes late and he doesn't get up this time. Ioka KO7! A good performance and New Year's Eve show.

    Pérez is throwing his jab in two varieties - roped out from long range, more accurate, and the flash jab he's dusting Ioka's face with up close as a smokescreen for either a right hand or Pérez taking evasive action. Ioka is getting hit now as Pérez body-checks him, bumping their arms together and forcing Ioka back a step, and then looping rights from Pérez slamming into the side of the head. Ioka now turns Pérez onto the ropes briefly with some body hooks. Pérez jumping around, leaning into Ioka with his elbows, launching a right hand up top, shimmying away, ducking and shrimping against the ropes. I was actually about to score this round for Pérez when outta nowhere BIG BODY-HEAD-BODY combo by Ioka, leaving the Venezuelan wheezing on his knees and clutching his face where the last right cross landed, ignoring the ref's ten count.

    Certainly closer and more competitive fight than expected, credit to Perez for valor performance. :chuck:

    Respect to Josber, he brought his best. Kazuto is still the sport's combination punching ambassador. Nice way to ring out 2023, much better contest than expected.
