It's truly baffling.

I'm a fan of both guys.

They both have huge egos and they like to posture in the media.

Neither of them truly wanted the fight and went all out for it. And that's because they're at very different stages of their careers and they have been for some time.

A lot of these guys think that putting big fights together is easy.

I haven't seen where anyone's mentioned HBO yet. Because boxing is a ruthless business, and they would have wanted that to have been built over time.

I've got no real issue with anyone who says that GG didn't really want it. But it's just ridiculous to pretend that Andre was desperate for it and the fight could have been made straight away without any issues.

 

Daring to be great was signing the Kovalev fight. Not moving to 175.

HBO ran his ass outta 168 to protect the side show that is team GGG.

wARD COULD HAVE EASILY done a Stevenson and fight everybody but Kovalev. He coulda even went the Stevenson route. He went after the guy who every one is saying will Krush him to bits.

 

Andre deserves an enormous amount of credit for fighting Kovalev.

As you know, he's received dogs abuse on here over the last few years.

Do you think he can pull it off mate?

I think he can.

I would have liked to have seen him have 2 more fights though and fought him next year.

I didn't think so based on his performance against Barrara , but i saw ways he could get it done after watching Sergeys last performance.

I'm on the fence atm. Going to wait and see how he looks against Brand. He needs to be quicker on his feet and more dynamic like he was at 168. If he brings that back , he can definitely pull out a win.

I can't wait. Its a great fight

 

That's fair, and I have given him props for taking the fight on here plenty too, as most have or at least should have

 

I haven't watched the Chilemba fight yet as I was on holiday.

Did Kovalev look bad?

GGG's a hypocrite so you can't trust anything him or his team say. Ward is actually fighting the top guy at 175 who is supposed to be a killer. GGG is fighting 147 lbers who when they fought elite competition they hugged the entire fight.

Who is honestly ducking here?

He looked a bit one dimensional and was eating head snapping jabs for free. He also has absolutely zero infighting skills. Ward is a nightmare to handle in close and he has a lot better and harder jab than Chilemba.
The fight definitely made Krusher more beatable than he had been looking.
I think the time is right after Brand. Any later and people will only claim Sergey was shot should Ward get the win.

If ward is having any trouble fighting kova at range....he will get inside on kova and absolutely batter him

 

Like the op alludes to, as a one off super fight 164 would have been perfect for G vs Ward.

But a full time jump up immediately didn't suit either parties.
