Anybody with a functioning brain knows that he'd have needed at LEAST ONE tune up before committing to a fight back at 168. (if GG had wanted it) He requested 2 to face Kovalev. And those opponents don't replicate Kovalev's style, he's just taking them to shake off the rust to feel sharp again. So logic states that he'd have required at least one opponent after 19 months out.

The question is, in what position would GG have been in when Andre was ready?

From late last year, GG had 2 MW belts and was in line for the lineal.

Like I keep saying, if you look at things logically, this fight was never really viable.

Outgrowing your weight class = "daring to be great"

    See Carl Frampton allegedly...

He requested 2 after 9 months out, so he'd have needed more than one after 19 months out, especially as it was back at SMW which is a weight he hasn't hit in a long time. By his own admission he was walking around somewhere in the 180's, and last year Froch said that he looked as though he was around 200.

I've not seen that quote before, but to me it would have been logical.

    the facts are

ward was never ready to fight GGG he wanted 3 or 4 tune ups before he even thought about fighting ggg

GGG was ready from the get go since he was active but ward never wanted it

gggs trainer said they never asked for 164 but they clearly did...even he himself..lol

ggg said brook was too small...now according to the trainer brook is gonna outweigh him on fightnight

    LOL.

ward is only taking 2 tuneups for kovalev...and one is just a stay busy payday to hold him over till November because hbo is paying him that ggg protection money

hbo went to ward and said "well sign u but only if u go to 175 and stay away from lowercase gee"

when ward fought smith he weighed 171...keeping himself between 168-175 in case a fight at 168 materialized...but ggg ran and asked hbo to make ward go away...which is what they did

ggg is a coward.....tell me ward didn't come in at 171 for smith....give me another reason that he did that other than to keep his weight close to 168

    ggg is a ducker

sanchez also said they never asked for 164...LOL

smith 171 was so he could go back to 168 and fight lowercase gee without having to fully drop his weight a whole 8 lbs you dummy....but we know who cowardly ducked that fight...the lowercase one

    You're stupid.

    1. I don't rate Ward #1.
    2. I didn't claim Ward needed 3 tuneups for Golovkin
    3. I NEVER claimed Golovkin is overrated (but some fans do overrate him).

Ate you just making **** up to argue?

I don't know, not being able to make 168 but not wanting to make the full jump to 175 in your first fight back feels like a good reason for not weighing at 168 to me

N.B - I'm not getting into the whole ducking thing on either side of this by the way, I just think Ward outgrew 168 as opposed to deciding to 'be great'
