Just curious, where is this gym located?

 

Is this the Ortiz boxing gym in El Monte, was going to go, but they dont open till 5pm

 

Thanks Frankie. Much appreciated. Glad to see Mares is doing well in sparring against a good operator and also encouraging to hear that Ponce De Leon is able to replicate Vic's style well.

Mares is a good, humble kid and I wish him nothing but the best of luck. Took him a while to step up but there was no rush and now he's only interested in fighting the best and making a name for himself. He's got all the talent in the world to establish himself as possibly the #1 in a very deep division depending on other results. I think he wins this tournament anyway.

Sparring with Ponce should do a lot of good for Mares' preparations. I'm a little nervous about the fight with Darchinyan but will be cheering my lungs out this December - in favor of Mares, of course.

 

Thanks for sharing brother. I didn't know De Leon was his sparring partner for this fight. they sure picked a guy who can hit heavy like Vic, maybe even heavier. I can't wait till this lil tourney starts.
