There is no doubt that Abner Mares is a supernatural and one of the best prospects that has yet to capture a tittle. Yesterday he fought one of his fellow countryment who he has fought in the pre-olympics. Abner displayed his array of talent, boxing skills, and heart. He dominated the fight and finished off in a convincing fashion it was a terrific shutout in my scorecards. Next true champ coming up in the 118 division... Penalosa get ready to retire comes here comes Mares.
Nacho Beristain. :happy He'll definately be a champion in a relatively weak division, I'd like to see him fight Silence Mabuza soon. :smoke
@ "supernatural". He's a Nacho Beristain fighter with a good offensive arsenal in the middle of the ring, not very good at fighting off the backfoot or being pressured, open defense, etc. Pretty good fighter, nothing special. The Nacho stance and style really seems to fool people into thinking automatic success because of guys like Lopez and Marquez. Difference is, Lopez had a very solid defense and the ability to fight while moving, or move effectively and counter while under fire, same thing with Marquez(although not defensively). Mares doesn't seem to have those traits, but I guess he's still young, so we'll see.
Did you watch the fight yesterday? I am assuming you didnt because he countered off the backfoot all night long and unlike his past fight this time he didnt go toe to toe and quickly put his hands in place after throwing bombs. The guy has time to improve however I could see him get past old man Penalosa in 3 via TKO.
I Use To Train With That Guy He Fought....arias Was Pretty Big **** Down Here Until He Lost His Last Fight....
I missed the fight yesterday. From what I've seen I've not been impressed, but as I said, he's young. I'll have to check it out if he did show the ability to fight off the backfoot. In the fights I've seen he's not responded well to pressure, including his fight with Marchiano. Here's another short fight of his where he shows me nothing really. [YT]8nbi6mOdk2w[/YT]
