Looks like Mares is negotiating a match with WBC 130 pound champion Miura for May 3 on the Mayweather ppv undercard.

So he doesnt want that Johnny fight no more uh? I would be a little scared to but whatever. they can always rematch down the road but if mares loses a 2nd title to him...that'll hurt..

Silly, silly move. The Mexicutioner will be scoring his 4th straight victory over a Mexican fighter.

Uchiyama v Miura could be in jeopardy here though, which would be a shame.

If you are confident in picking Miura, why is Takashi vs. Takashi II potentially in jeopardy? :huh

Thing is, and you would need a working knowledge of the Japanese scene to realize this (which most fans don't have, nor probably do Mares' team), he is escaping the frying pan by jumping into the fire. :yep

Because if Miura wins it's likely the US will want to see him come back and fight someone like...Magdaleno, Garcia or any others they have at 130. Money talks and Miura will know that the money of fighting in the US, for the risk taken, for a second time will out do what he'd get for the Uchiyama rematch.

    Amazingly legit fight here...

Mares is a crazy little mofo jumping up the divisions like this! His stop and title at 122 is complete garbage (vs. Morel for vacant title, at 120 pound catchweight... this is one of the worst jobs of filling a vacancy a sanctioning body has done in recent years. Plus the lone defense was dragging Moreno up in weight then repeatedly low blowing and ass punching him, only for Moreno to lose a random point, to a narrow victory that one judge scored 120-106).

I hate Mares (P4P the dirtiest fighter in the sport) but he fights top competition.

Miura is no joke... Good fighter amassing a great resume so far.

It's actually a very decent fight, I wanted him to fight Gonzales but this is a legit fight.
