Bantamweight: Hozumi Hasegawa will make his tenth title defense on December 18th against Alvaro Perez. He may abdicate his throne to move to Super bantamweight afterward. A final eliminator between #1 Simpiwe Vetyeka and #2 Abner Mares was ordered, possibly or the vacant title if Hasegawa indeed moves up.- Fightnews.com

Great news. I wondered when Abner was going to step-up, I think he's ready to take a vacant belt against a weaker contender at least.

Do prospects/contenders ever go after a champion instead of going after a devalued trinket anymore? I love the COMING OUT party, when a prospect beats an established champion and there is a collective gasp and realization that hey, this kid is a force to be reckoned with.

    Dawson v. Adamek
    Morales v. Zaragoza
    Mayweather v. Hernandez
    Haye v. Mormeck
    Calzaghe v. Eubank

in short...I wish he would fight Hasegawa
