I give more credit to Mares though, because Moreno is that well known and could do with the exposure.

Winner of this vs winner of Doanire-Nishioka should be next for divisional supremacy.

Good thing too, we're gonna need to recuperate after the two boring pot-shot clinch fests we have coming up with Ward and Devon.

Mares is starting to build himself quite the resume.
Darchinyan, Perez, Agbeko(X2) Morel and now Moreno.

The guy is definitely willing to fight the best and is always in wars. If he was 10-15 pounds bigger he would be a star

moreno was donaire's mandatory before he tried to jump **** to gbp. i think donaire didn't want that fight so he pulled that bull****. moreno had management issues before....i think they got that in order. it's only a matter of time before he gets the recognition he deserves. props to mares...because he's already fought great opposition and he has expressed a desire to fight donaire and rigondeaux.

    i agree.

I was turned off by Mares when all that went down, but at the rematch Mares won me over and made me a bigger fan.

He's the Carl Froch of the little guys. I guarantee to he'd jump all over a shot on Donaire, even though he would be almost certain to lose.

People seem to forget how good Agbeko is too and to beat him in the way he did in the second fight was very impressive.

    No doubt about that.

Nobody had beaten Agbeko as clearly as Mares did in the rematch.

I do recall him saying after the Montiel fight that nobodies knows who Moreno is. After beating Darchinyan, if he follows that up with an impressive victory over Mares, he's probably on pound for pound lists and Donaire can't ignore him for muuch longer.

mares had a favorable ref in both fights. i can't give him credit for both "wins" but i can give him credit for fighting agbeko. it's just unfortunate he had to resort to fouls to win.

donaire is looking to make money. he's going to avoid mares, agbeko, moreno and rigondeaux unless those guys diminish each other...then he'll step in for the easy win.

:good The only fight he clearly lost before that was the first to Yhonny Perez but Agbeko made the adjustments to deal with him in the rematch, something he couldn't do with Mares (Agbeko's other losses was the first fight with Mares which was marred by the aforementioned shady ref, and the other against Sydorenko was a dodgy MD).

The first one yes- shocking officiating by Mora. The second was controversy free.
